I am looking at buying a BMW 328i and i want as much trunk space as possible! so i am considering ordering a deathbox ii what is the ideal sub for this box? i want max SPL with high sound quality (of course) What about the new Kicker L-7's? the square subs... would somebody design a version of the box for it? like the man who designed this awesome box :) i have heard Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 is good sub for this particular enclosure.. what are some others? FYI - i am going to have my whole car Sound Dampened professionally, to take care of any rattling :) |

Posted At 01:11:35 07/26/2000 I like those new kickers and they sound good, however, I heard somewhere that they are designed for cylindrical enclousures. I don't know much about the new kickers but here's another Idea: If you want to save space and you have those tires that can drive 50 miles when flat, build the box where the spare tire is. You could even alter the specifications of steve's box to make it real flat. I have built the box myself in altered ways with promising results. Of course I must say, even though many people here don't agree but I would go with one 8ohm 10" sub. I mean c'mon this is a BMW and I know you wnat some really tight low-end. hampton |

Posted At 12:09:31 07/26/2000 Well i want to keep the spare (cause it is a real tire, not crap spare like most) :) But i did think of replacing the spare with the sub box Thanks for the reply i bought the plans and i think i am going to build one 10" death box with a infinity kappa perfect 10 unless someone tells me, they have gotten better performance out of some other sub :) |

Posted At 14:38:25 07/28/2000 Is there a reason you haven't considered getting one of Steve's DHM subs??? If you want tight, low bass without a huge enclosure, my advice is definately to go with an isobaric deathbox. I doubt cost is a huge issue, as you were talking about the L7 subs, which cost a bloody fortune... you can pick up 2 DHM speakers and have them shipped for around $250. Just place your sub box under the package shelf (either on its side or on its end, whichever fits) with the port facing the rear of the car, and mount the amp directly to the box to save even more space. You'll have enough bass to make your ears pop! By the way, you never did mention what kind of amp you're thinking of, and whether you have any kind of 'port' from the trunk to the cabin... want my advice on the amp, don't skimp... get a PPI, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, etc. If you get a Boss, Power Acoustik, Pyramid, etc for your BEAMER, I will personally strangle you!!! :) |

Posted At 15:28:29 07/31/2000 no i did not look at the DHM subs... i had read on some previous posts that people had good experience with the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10s... now with the isobaric, i would have to get 12s correct? or would i just modify the 10" deathbox designs? the amp i was looking at buying was the 300x2 Watt Infinity Kappa Digital Beta... put one 10 on it now .. maybe add a second later no i had a pyramid on my crap old system and now i am doing it right :) |
