well this is what I got.. I have a JVC 6 disc changer.. a old one like a 1990 version. it has a fm modulator on it.. I was using a factory deck.. a Menace PAS2150 amp(Audiovox 600watts bridged at 2 Ohms supposedly).. 10"Pheonixgold 1004 sub in a DBII... and the rest of the factory speakers... all in a 96 Olds Cutlass Supreme... well the first Qualifying round I hit 126.3..I started to play my cd and I never even got to my note.. I didnt realize I ran out of time before I got to my note.. after that showing the people there told me that wasnt a bad showing for what I got *smiling*.. but I thought I could do better in the next round... so I get called back for the second round.. this time I set up the cd so that my note hits at the end of my 30 seconds..so the 30 seconds start and the cd starts.. at the time it didnt dawn on me that I should have started my cd as close to my note as possible or that I could turn up the bass on the deck and the gain and crossovers on the amp...despite all the mistakes I made I still hit 130.5!!! you should have seen the faces of the people at the local stereo shop when I hit 130.. they were saying holy sh**.. I told them that this box was a pretty good box.. well.. I guess they now know that it is a good box haha.. they said that I would have done good at hitting 124.. but anyway.. I think I am hooked now.. I am going to try using a WO next time... I noticed people in my class were hitting about 143.. so I am going to try to beat that..well I just thought I would share my night with you all |

Posted At 14:21:09 07/30/2000 very impressive for one 10 if I do say so myself. now did you have that box bolted to your car or was it just lying there? I think if you made soem fine tune adjustments you just may be able to hit that 140 mark. You could tune up the box a bit and possibly play with the windows of your car. I don't know if you had them rolled up or what but I usually gain when my windows are down a bit. good luck with that WO, that box hits like mad!! hampton |

Posted At 22:50:39 07/30/2000 I just have the box laying in there with a piece of velcro on the bottom to hold it from sliding around.. and I have a GM car so I had to use a in line converter to get the signal to some RCA's and I had that thing turned down to less then a quarter of the way up... I turned it up today and WOW what a difference.. I guy at the compition told me I sould get a deck that puts out atleast 4 volts to the RCA's.. so I decided to look at that converter.. I wonder what it hits now.. ??? |
