i have 4 Rockford Hx2's. I built a box under rockfords guidlines and ran a soundstream 10.2 amp @ 1/2 ohm bridge mono (god i love that amp...) anyhow with the existing ported box i can hit roughly 146-147 Db. what box design would you recommend for strictly SPL. dont give a damn about sound Q. (its just for DB Drag racing,i have a regular sealed box for sound Q) I also have stringent size limitations... 36" across strut towers, 15 maybe 16" high, and roughly 45" front to rear. what do you suggest? if i have to buy plans, i will. |

Posted At 11:26:30 08/01/2000 also what is the purpose (or benefits) of having 2 subs facing each other with no airspace between them except whatever the depth or parabolic curve of the cone. In other words will if give more pounding? and how much benefits will the isobaric result in? |

Posted At 14:06:10 08/03/2000 when mounting the cones in the isobaric configuration (face to face) you double the overall power handling of your system. This is also true with ANY system with two woofers (2 can handle more power than 1.. duh). BUT, you will be able to pump a lot more power in without distortion, as the power-per-square-inch of surface area is doubled. This means less distortion. This may mean jack squat to you if you're going for PURE SPL, but using this configuration will decrease distortion. I'd say go for 2 deathboxes, one speaker in each. That should give you 3 dB more than the isobaric configuration in just 1 box. JB |
