Hello all, I have a Profile California amp 400sx that supposedly puts out 300w at 2 ohms in bridged mono. So I am guessing that with one 4 ohm sub at best I will see 150w. which leads me to my real question, which DHM sub would be best? I think that the old standby 180b is available in a 4 ohm version also, but the newer pro is only available in 8 ohm versaion. With one of these 8 ohm subs, that would reduce my power to about max 75w right? if this is the case (only getting 75w @ 8 ohms)would I be better off getting the 4 ohm version or going with the PRO (greater sensitivity) at 8 ohms? thanks for any info here guys, ~Steve oh yeah, this is gong into a deathbox.. would this box combined with this little power make getting a cheaper generic sub a better idea? 75w for one of Decware's subs seems a little low, possibly a waste of money. THANKS! |

Posted At 14:51:06 08/06/2000 Okay guys I answered my own question by reading a post waaay down the list. a bridged amp always sees half the load, so that puts it at 4 ohms with an 8 ohm speaker with a bridged amp. I guess that means that with a 4 ohm speaker, my amp would be seeing a 2 ohm load, and I doubt if my lowly Profile amp would like that... : ) |
