Dear Decware,
Many years ago (1974) my ex and I purchased a
set of four Advent speakers. In 1986 we separated and we each kept two
of the speakers. The foam surrounds in my pair rotted shortly after
that and I had them repaired in a local shop. It was an expensive job
and much to my dismay, the replacement surrounds rotted out too a few
years later. Upon closer inspection of the shops 'repair' work, I
discovered that they had taken some lazy shortcuts and messed up their
job in several ways. That convinced me to try to re-repair the speakers
myself. I found your web site (I think that your on-line business was
still pretty new then) and ordered one of your repair kits. Much to my
relief, your replacement parts were of excellent quality. Also, your
instructions and on-line illustrations were so clear and complete that
I repaired both speakers perfectly with very little effort. I'm pleased
to advise you that years later, your replacement surrounds are still in
perfect shape and the speakers are going strong.
Now for the 'rest of the story':
My ex recently gave me back the other two
speakers from our original set of four. Their surrounds (factory
originals) are rotten but I'll be ordering repair parts from you
shortly so they'll soon be as good as new.
I plan to retire next spring and start my own
company. Guess what's going into my new office first thing? Right ...
four re-united Advents that just won't die.
Regards,
A Satisfied Customer
