Here's an old add I did several years back that I recently stumbled upon...

Always been one of my favorites  [smiley=Wow.gif]

FWIW, that graphic is one that made me pause, and investigate the Decware site further, several years ago. It dovetails nicely with the "mistique" surrounding these wonderful products. (ordered my Select shortly after)

Almost as cool as the early Bendi in the Imperial series

But we've matured past that now, right?

That was WAY cool!
What program did you do it in?
A ray tracing 3D software?

Yes,  It was a night spent getting familiar with ray tracing.  I did the image for this article:

Trying to show the difference between good and bad sound with - images!

Yep ..... it had a similar effect on me.

It's interesting that if you read through the entire article that Steve wrote to accompany this graphic, he paints a pretty unflattering picture of digital playback.  Unfortunately, I had to agree for the most part with his observation.

THE EFFECTS OF VINYL vs. CD/DAC

At that point, I was determined to eventually put together a digital front end that was a "little bit better" than Steve's digital depiction .....  :)

I'm getting pretty close .....  8-)

Actually I think that was Steve's best published thought exercise - clearly created in the days when there was enough time to play extensively with the software, as well as cogitate on the written word.

Those were some magic days indeed.  I lived alone, had no neighbors, was just starting Decware as you know it, and listening every night from 10 P.M. to 2 or 3 A.M. after a two hour warm up starting at 8 P.M.  I got into such a rhythm with my work that I didn't know what day it was for well over 2 years.  I spent every night evaluating the original Zen Triode amp A against Zen Triode amp B and by the second year they were both so good that whichever one I started with made me forget to A/B amps, and just got lost in music.

Good stuff :)
