Title: SE84ZS in The Netherlands.....or the Mini Torii
Post by CDesign on 10/11/09 at 08:20:46

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a Dutch owner of a SE84ZS?
I'm very curious how this amp will do in my system:

BD-design Oris 200, around 110 dB (impedance 16 Ohm)
Promitheus TVC
Philips CDD882 with Monica3 DAC (output around 1 V)
BD player with the standard 2 V output.

The DIY basshorn gets his signal from the output of the tube amp then through a PLLXO to a 2 x 50 W amp.

Hi CDesign,

First off, welcome to our forums!  I've sold several amps to the Netherlands over the years but not sure how many are watching the forums.

I usually don't do this, but I found myself staring at your picture for some time.  Nice work, BTW.   With the effort that has gone into your space I would recommend spending a bit more and getting a Mini Torii SEX for your system.  It is better suited to 16 ohm speakers, silent on 110dB speakers, and was designed with systems like yours in mind.  The Monica3 could be hooked up direct to the amplifier via one of the two inputs - together they would give you a nice benchmark for transparency, tone and timbre.  It is also small (I scaled it to fit your cabinet in the picture)  and would put out about half the heat of your present amplifier.

Steve

Now that's some super service [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]. Thanks!!

The Mini Torii, after reading about it, would indeed be a better choice. But it's also a bit more $'s. So enough stuff to think over.

Maybe I'm lucky and someone from Holland is on this forum.......
