Title: Impedance curve Post by alonso on 04/06/10 at 05:08:18 Hello; I installed a JBL Control 1 as center channel in my H.T. The Marantz receiver marks minimal impedance from 6 to 16ohms. and the Control 1 has a nominal impedance of 4, First I thought it's only 2 ohms under specs and later I found the impedance curve of the speaker wich ilustrates a greater demand of power below 100hz.(10ohm) The center channel is "cut" at 100hz in the receiver set up, so it will never reach the point where low freq's demand 4 ohms right? (55hz) Hope someone can help me. Thanks http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/Control_1at.pdf |

You are correct that the 100hz high pass will reduce the current draw for your center speaker, and at 10 ohms it won't be drawing that much anyway. I would imagine the Marantz to have some thermal protection circuitry built in, too. Unless it's running smoking hot or shutting down, I'd just roll with it. |
