Unboxed it, slapped some tubes in and  :). Brimar 13D5's for 12AU7's, Valve Art 350B's and Valvo EZ81's. The Mini is driving Klipsch Heresy III's.

I'll be back after it settles in.  ;)

Thanks Lon. This little amp is quite good and will only improve with use.

Hi Les,
I've just read this thread(yes, I'm just a bit behind with my reading), and wanted to tell you how happy I am for you that you have a brand new Mini Torii. I just received my new MT about 2 weeks ago! I'm just THRILLED with the performance of this little jewel out of the box! My tubes are: JJ EZ81, Raytheon OC2, GE 12AU7A, Tung-Sol 6V6GT(Made in Russia), Russian OA3. These are the stock tubes and it sounds fantastic!! I play mostly LP's on a Linn LP12 with my old Marantz Imperial 6-G speakers. They're 93% efficiency so I have more than enough volume to blast the walls down(I use 6 or 7 clicks on the attenuators) I would be very interested to hear your opinions of the Mini after having yours for ~10 months now. Enjoy!! :)

If I were you I would get a spare pair of EZ81's, preferably non-JJ just to be prepared if one fails.

I'll be posting a bunch of spare tubes I have that work with the Mini Torii, for sale in a few days so keep an eye out! It'll include a pair of 6L6's, 6V6's, 12AU7's, some tube regulators and some reliable EZ81's....I had 3 different set's of JJ EZ81's fail on me before :/

Hey Tube Nut,

The Mini is a fine amp...but tube rolling is subjective and system dependent...so with that said...try a pair of RFT EZ80's...very nice and not expensive. The new production 6V6's are very good and I'm not sure chasing NOS is worth the effort. I do have a pair of Pope/Philips 6V6's that *I* like though.

I got a pair of 40's RCA 6V6g st in and it has nice punch in the bass but still full and rich.  The VA 350b's were nice but much more airy, soft ethereal :)

SE34I.3 versus a Mini Torii?

It seems that a Mini Torii has a better chance of taming a bright high end (due to tube rolling and the treble adjustment).

But does the SE34I.3 some better (all things being equal)?

Also, will you save money on replacement tubes as the MINI Torii tubes are reported to last much longer.

Any comments?
