Title: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by funch on 03/25/20 at 04:26:44 If there's anyone like me who is completely clueless to the coolness of the Raspberry Pi, here's an article that I followed to set one up for audio. https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/dummies-guide-to-pi2aes-throw-away-your-pc-or-laptop.8878/ |
Title: Re: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by kulafu on 06/03/21 at 01:40:57 +1 on this. It replaced my bluesound node 2i for streaming Qobuz, Spotify and Tidal. Dummies like me were able to follow the instructions. It is so versatile and I am currently using it with Denafrips Pontus II using all sources going to it. The best part is that is very affordable! |
Title: Re: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by lobo on 06/03/21 at 11:27:14 Take a look at allo.com, pi based system. Plug and play with operating system of your choice. I have used digione streamer, which is very good for the money spent. |
Title: Re: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by kulafu on 06/03/21 at 14:28:09 Agree. Any Pi based streamer are a great value and IHMO great SQ. As a newbie, I was somewhat hesitant but it was really easy to set up. I am currently using Volumio with no issues thus far and may be venture into RoopieXL in the not too distant future. Bob |
Title: Re: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by CAJames on 06/03/21 at 20:25:24 Thanks for posting. I've been using an old Windows 7 netbook to play hirez files via USB and I just started thinking about replacing with something pi based. |

Title: Re: Dummies Guide to Pi2AES! Post by CAJames on 06/04/21 at 23:41:59 Very nice! I just tried booting my netbook with Volumio and didn't like it nearly as much as Foobar2000. My "problem" is that my music is organized as a directory structure and my impression is most software wants to organize it all in a database. You can access the files directly in Volumio, but it isn't as easy as Foobar. I have no love for Windows but the more I look around the Piverse the more it looks like it might be my best option. |
