Title: Cleaning stickers, sharpie on tubes
Post by Bottlehead on 06/05/24 at 01:10:52

OK, all you tube wizards - I bought. a pair of 45 tubes off eBay, and there are stickers on the tubes, as well as the tested values written in sharpie. I’m looking for advice on cleaning them without harm. I’ll include pictures to maybe spark some ideas.

Thanks!
Randy

I’d try alcohol .

Goo-Gone is good for tape/adhesive residue - not as strong as alcohol.

Careful not to get Goof-Off - different product for removing dried latex paint.

Best sharpie removal is spray sunscreen.  Even smells nice.
Stickers I scrape off paper and residue with a utility knife and use either vegetable oil or WD-40 for more difficult gunk.  Works good for me.  I try to avoid strong solvents.  Good luck!

Sticker adhesives is something I used to have to deal with a lot... Alcohol, windex, or Naptha will handle 85% of the most used sticker adhesives... Alcohol for the sharpie. After these, things get more serious. A drop on the end of a qtip should show you if it works, if you have to work at it, or it smears, try a different solvent.

Cheers

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I’ll try some of the suggestions, and report back with the results.
