Title: Prettiest speaker wood
Post by Donnie on 08/24/24 at 18:45:28

My question to you all is this, what is the prettiest wood for speakers?

I had my pair of Koa speakers out in my garage doing some maintenance and decided to throw a coat of beeswax on them to spiffy them up.

Wowza, I had forgotten how pretty the Koa is.

So what do you have that is prettier than my Koa?

Here is my entry into this contest:

Quilted and extremely chatoyance!

That's very pretty. I think I would love a pair of speakers in purple heartwood, but that is expensive and hard to work with I hear.

My favorite speaker wood finish that I have is a pair of maple HR-1. Maple may be nothing special, but with the balck speaker housing and speaker, and the black top and bottom, it matches my maple Mapleshade Audio Samson Ver. 3 rack with maple platforms and black components so very very well.

I custom-ordered my LS3/5As in ebony, and eventually got matching ebony SUB3s. So, I'm going with ebony.

I had a pair of Infinity Servo’s in the 70’s that had a spectacular rosewood base cube with an 18 inch down firing speaker, it was quite a system.

Can’t say any one is my best or favorite … but these two speakers (rosewood and burled olive) are amazing in very different ways🤯
