Title: Zrock and headroom Post by JohnBiv on 01/08/25 at 15:35:01 Mini torii owner here. I have a pair of 92db 3 way towers that lack a bit of lower end frequencies. Would the additional bass further limit the headroom of speakers? Anyone have any experience in this area with the zrocks? Regards John |

Can you be a bit more specific on what you mean by limiting headroom? What issue(s) are you wondering about that you think the ZR2 might exacerbate? |
Title: Re: Zrock and headroom Post by Lon on 01/08/25 at 22:09:03 While probably not influencing headroom per se, being heavy handed with the EQ level on the ZROCK does pump more gain into the downstream component(s) and that creates a sort of natural "compression" that can make one tend to utilize lower overall volume, and can seem as if there is less headroom or as Steve might call it "usable power." |
Title: Re: Zrock and headroom Post by JohnBiv on 01/08/25 at 22:58:33 Doug, Lon, thank you for getting back to me. Doug, my concern is that by resolving the bass issue I might push the amp to its already limited limit. Lon confirmed my suspicion of increased compression (in dynamics and volume) but will the sound stage depth and width suffer as well? Will the magic be lost in place of a bit more low end? Also, the volume dials typically live around 8 o’clock sometimes 9 o’clock 10 is the rare upper limit, and that is where the amp no longer gets any louder. It just begins to compress. |

Which is what Steve outlines in the product page--I found that to be true--days after my first ZROCK2 was placed in the main system. Now I have three. . .and a ZROCK3 on the list, now #15, probably will have parts pulled in a few weeks. |
