I just ordered my speakers, a custom built pair of Omega Super Alnico High Output XRS with integrated downfiring 8" Deep Hemp Subs and a few upgrades. I will be pairing them with the Sarah 300B with a full complement of CryoTone tubes.

I still need a DAC. I've realistically narrowed it down to the Holo May KTE or the T+A DAC 200. The Mola Mola Tambaqui is a stretch, plus it only has XLR outs, so I'm not sure it's the right fit right now.

I know the May has a different sonic signature than the DAC 200. The DAC 200 is slightly sharper and not as warm in the midrange as the May. Being that I haven't yet heard the Sarah with the Omegas, I don't know which way to lean with the DAC - warmer and more analog, or more dynamic with a little more sparkle on top.

Has anyone heard both? Am I being overly concerned that the May will sound too warm with the Sarah/Omega combination?

I have no experience with those speakers or that DAC but I wanted to just note that in my experience and opinion with tube rolling and gain structure experimentation the SEWE300B can be "many amplifiers." It can be made to have a character like that you describe of either of those DACs and tailored to fit either and I bet tailored to fit the speaker.

So I'm no help other than to say I don't think you will make a bad choice either way.

I agree with Lon. Decware amps plus Omega speakers are a classic combination and will sound great with whatever you choose. Pick the DAC you like best.

I was just reading Audio Science Review and according to them, all DAC's sound the same.
They seem to like $200 SMSL DAC's.

I also found out from them that all amplifiers should sound the same.

Damn, I should have read that first and saved myself a lot of money.

Seriously, buy with your ears. I personally like R2R DAC's, but that is my personal taste.
