The decimal in the measurement was throwing him off. He needed it translated into a fraction used on a tape measure or ruler.
Like 3/8" = .375" or 11/16" = .6875", but the equivalent(or very close to) of the decimal in the plans. (Note: 3/8" and 11/16" are not the actual measurement.)
