Okay, a week later, I realize what's up. When Steve Deckert refers to 1956 Jensen Imperial plans that he updated/corrected/improved, he's talking about essentially the SAME PLANS as mine were made from. The actual size of mine are 62" H x 37.5" w x ~25" d. For the first time I feel confident what what you all are describing with your Decware Imperials is only different from mine in having additional bracing.
Which means that what you all have learned about yours generally applies to mine, and vice versa.
And this is very interesting. I have tried 4 sets of drivers in mine:
Tannoy 15", probably 3808 (borrowed from a friend) with their orig crossovers Tannoy 15", probably 3838, biamped Tannoy 15" Monitor Golds with orig. crossovers
JBL E130 (tried one last night) I thought the JBLs were exactly what these wanted: light cone, huge magnet, low Qts (about 0.2), Fs about 40, very efficient (105). But somehow they didn't do nearly as well as the Monitor Golds in loading the horn below 40hz. Go figure.
I think the Monitor Golds are staying in there. They are the reference to be bested. They just sound GREAT in there.
