Mono Platinum SHM-CD version. I love the flexibility of my Torii Mk III. Due to the fact that I do not have the speakers out into the room unless it's a listening session, my system sounds a little bit different every day due to speaker placement (and experimentation thereof at times). These Platinum SHM-CDs are really nice for dialing in the sound of mono recordings and thus left/right stereo separation. You can crank them and they just sound louder, they don't sound harsher or thinner or edgier.

Back to this one. Very dense production that takes a bit of adjusting to but man the arrangements and performances on this one . . . . I really enjoy them.

Edit to add: I'm loving what the P10 has done for my system. Wow this sounds good. I find that if I "tune" the system towards the Sine wave mode, that is fantastic for about sixty percent of my listening, and the MultiWave mode at 1 really adds to the enjoyment of the rest. And I can change that mode with a remote or one touch of the screen.

All of them are not strictly the type of jazz you are most interested in, however. . . . I love her work myself. Oh and she also has a duo album with her mom, Toshiko Akiyoshi, which is jazz.

I don't use Spotify etc. but that doesn't surprise me, for most of her career Monday only had a record contract in Japan and I had to pay big bucks for her releases. I love her music, which is not surprising as I love the work of her mother (Japanese pianist/composer/orchestra leader Toshiko Akiyoshi) and her father (American alto payer Charlie Mariano) and the step-father who raised her (muti-reed and flute player Lew Tabakin).

Right those four albums are from when she began to have more of an international presence as far as record companies go. There's jazz in there, and a sort of Minnie Ripperton (one of her idols) soul, and a fusion of musical forms that is Monday's own.

#188 of this new Mosaic Records set arrived today.

FAT booklet. Yay! And odd packaging: a single disc, and two fat boys one with three discs and one with four discs. But I think that was because of the number of tracks to list on the back covers.

This set includes the four tunes that Pres did with Una Mae Carlisle and I'm glad these are back in print, she's one of my favorite singers of the pre-bop age.
