Continuing on my SACD listening, this trio recording with Steve Davis and Lex Humphries is a fun listen.

I'm a big fan of the sound on this one, I don't have a problem with RVG piano recording and there's a nice balance here between instruments, it almost sounds as if you're at a table near a small stage.

Nice song choices and solid playing by all.

Sounds quite nice indeed. Early in my jazz listening obsession I listened to these two releases so much that I almost became sick of them. In recent years I've been revisiting them and falling under their spell again.

I don’t have a lot of experience with these symphonies in other hands so don’t have a sense of how these interpretations stack up, but I sure do like this body of music and I do like these performances. And the sound via DMP. . . wow. Puts a system through its paces and shines.

Since SACD is blowing my socks off in my system these days, I had to spin this one (on headphones this time as my wife is watching college football). Wow. I've been listening to this since the 'seventies and I've fallen in and out of love with it, but this century I mostly love it and I have to say there's a reason this is such a seller and has such longevity and gets so much attention. There's a magic to these performances and a mystique of this moment in musical time that is deserved. It still has the power to enchant me.

Yes I did get the Impex, wow what an LP. Sound is unbelievable. I've just played a Ry Cooder and V.M. Bhatt test pressing that also was great, not for everyone but if you enjoy the slide guitar and sitar you might enjoy it. Bhatt plays an instrument he invented similar to a sitar. Cassandra Wilson light till dawn is spinning now.

Right now Just talked to a few Mormons going door to door. It sure is not a good night for that here, rainy and about 34 degrees.

I`ve just bought the latest reissue of KOB Sony/Legacy with the original Columbia label. I like it a lot...but there is a difference to my previous copy. I can hear Miles trumpet leave an echo just after he`s played a line and pauses. Like a one second delay, faint but audible, same speaker. Track 2 side 1 first half of Miles solo is most noticible. Could be that my new TT is a lot more revealing or the remastering is different.
I did some reseach but found nothing other than there were some issues with leaking mikes.
I`d like to think it`s extra detail and I`m hearing more closer to the master tape, but I also think it could be a dodgy press. A fine line

This is proving to be a really interesting set and listen. (I have nearly every session on this on other discs, digital and LP, but I think the clarity and dynamics here are a tad better).

I'm fooling around with a new guitar (an Epiphone ES-175 Premium bought at clearance at half the price, natural finish) while this spins. Nice guitar, a bargain because it has Gibson Classic '57 pickups, which sell for 300 a pair (paid 450 for the guitar). My first real jazz hollow body.

I finally bought a SHM-SACD from Japan as musicdirect.com is running a sale on a number of them. I bought "A Love Supreme" by Coltrane on Impulse! because I love this music and have had so many different copies of this on multiple formats.

Sounds really really good. Possibly better than the other two SACDs I have (one Verve, one Analogue Productions) and rivals the Redbook version found in "The Complete A Love Supreme" 3 cd set.
