Bunch of driving today and tasks for Dad and some work in my storage unit. Feels so good to sit down and listen and this one has such good sound quality.

Pulled stuff out of storage (modded C amp and CSP2 preamp) and have stuff upstairs in my second system to sell (PS Audio PWT and PWD Mk2) and now I have to decide. . . sell them as combos or separately. My brain hurts.

Reply #12259 - 12/08/16 at 20:05:55 This is freaking me out a little, with my new transport feeding the DirectStream DAC I'm hearing tiny nuances of Herbie's piano and Tony's drums I've never noticed before, and I've been listening to this album in some form or another since the mid-Sevenites. Wow. Sometimes being an audio nut is fun.

Kevin Gray does such a great job with these old Blue Note recordings...

It's $36 on Elusive Disc. I guess I'll be buying my ECM reissues/Vinyl from Amazon from now on...

Syd, yup, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett both have the same effect on me. I play at least one of them each day. Regarding the Santana, I have a clean original but also have the Speakers Corner reissue. If you don't have it, you should pick it up when elusive disc has a 20% sale...right now it's only a 12% sale. Anyway, I think I'll spin that Santana now...

Whew! Finally warm again after a few hours of shoveling and clearing cars. Rewarding myself with this great album before it's my turn to shower. Man, this is a beautiful session! I don't play it often enough, the failing of having an immense collection but as a tribute, as a relaxing album, as a great Helen Merrill album--this one wins on all counts!
