Gypsy Folk Tales on Roulette, new Japanese SHM-CD reissue. Won't make you forget the Blue Notes, and shows a decided drop in recording quality (recorded to sound like the times) but I'm still enjoying it. From '77.

Reply #12315 - 12/16/16 at 20:49:59 Over on audio boards many HATE the Culture Factory releases but this is the best stereo Surrealist Pillow I have ever heard on cd. Big and fat sound. The mono SACD from Mobile Fidelity is great, a whole different experience. But for reverby stereo this one sounds great on my system.

Lon, I received and have the Voodoo interconnects between the CSP3 and Torii at the moment. They were a little shorter than the Evolutions so I moved the CSP3 about 4 inches closer to the Torii. Sounds good but without A/Bing couldn't say if it's better or not. I'll leave things as is for a week then switch back to see.

I preferred them to the Evolution, just a shade more body, but everything is so system-dependent and subjective, they're really good interconnects regardless. Hope you end up loving them.

This is an album that I enjoy . . . but wish were somewhat different. Either all with Latin percussion. . . or just the trio . . . . And I wish it were a bit more exploratory. Glad to have the SHM-CD version though, it sounds very good in comparison to the US digipak.

I love this music and this recording. . .I grew up with Gershwin and then my young adult obsession with Miles Davis became complete with this interpretation of the opera.

The tracks on this one with Barry Harris, Paul Chambers and Billy Higgins. . . wow what a precise and yet fluid groove. I don't know if these three guys ever did another session together, but they're working so well on this one.
