I'm in the Cave and played this again. I think I'll have to return it. It has more than half a dozen places in the title song where there's distortion that sounds like non-fill. I don't expect perfection from Vinyl and probably send back far too few, this will be the second since I started buying reissues...100's of reissues probably. Oh well. Mark.

Saw her live with the Chocolate Drops a year ago ( i think). She was transcendent both in her vocal range and her beauty. Even thinking about the performance puts me in a great mood. Only weird moment was before the show and I was using the restroom when one of the performers (Hubby Jenkins) came in the rest room(we were at the sink). I told him I was looking forward to hearing him perform. He looked at me dismissively responded obnoxiously what makes you think I'm performing? I responded are you kidding, you are holding a mandolin? It was an uppity concert hall but to this day have no idea why he gave me such an attitude.

PS...Euphonium...you don't hear that instrument on many Jazz LPs...this is really good...

Lon, that "Water Babies" looks interesting. The first three tracks are from the Second Quintet. The last two are from the "In A Silent Way" sessions with other musicians added...Dave Holland and Chick Corea for example maybe others. I'll have to pull the two box sets that have this material and play the tunes. May be worth picking up on Vinyl. I still am behind some of the later Quintet's albums on Vinyl...they are only reissued on 45 RPM from what I can tell. Since this came out in 1976, maybe a good original copy can be bought cheap. It looks like both box sets have Wilder remastering. Mark.

The second side has electric pianos, Herbie and Chick each on the RMI electric piano (has a different sound than Rhodes electric piano). The first side is extremely good!

I have so many versions of this session, and over the years I've really come to love it. So each time I play it now I try to listen to another version.

This is the Sony K2HD version. . . . Sounds very nice. In an early incarnation of my system it was a bit bright but now it's tight and right and channel separation is very defined. It's right up there with the SACDs (Sony and MoFi).

This one sounds superb. Redbook but sounds so much like the Mobile Fidelity SACD I am not sure I could tell them apart blindfolded. Lovely resonance to the bass and piano and snap to the drums.

There was a Japanese cd on P-Vine about three years ago. . . if it's like many P-Vines it may be a needle drop of the LRC record. I'm not aware of any other cd release.
