I also have the Mosaic set with all those live cuts from circa 1964, On Jack Johnson...I don't remember liking it...at least not enough to buy a reissue LP.

I`m not that familiar with Mingus, Mark, I have one other lp by him. Eric Dolphy is on the `concert` album so the music gets right out there and Mingus sounds like he is as well when he rambles on to to audience. Great recording though and very interesting. Verve, yes.
I think Allmusic quotes Miles as saying he was going to put the greatest ever rock band together and this is it. Mcloughlins long intro is seething.

Mark, when I lose power. . . I also lose water because we aren't on city water and have a well and a pump. . . and being without water is not great. And my stove is electric . . . I didn't get coffee til later. But I survived.

I have a lot of Keith Jarrett and the early Pat Metheny as well as others. One caution, the LPs issued for ECM by Polydor were inferior...too much noise. The German and Warner Brothers issues for ECM are good. Next...

Jack Teagarden. . . someone I like more than Art Pepper (ducking under a chair!) Sorry, I just never have become a big Pepper fan!

This is a new SHM-CD arrived today from Japan from Warner Japan. Sounds great. I have the LP two (actually a mono and a stereo copy). And the material on the Mosaic set of his Roulette material. I'm a big Teagarden fan!

On "Rockin' Chair" Don Goldie does his great impression of Louis Armstrong singing and scatting!

I honestly couldn't tell you without a true A B comparison which is better. What I do know is I'll pickup some more Amperex 6DJ8s, 6922s and 7308s. CD #2 of 3... CD #3...

This album was recorded for Columbia records in November of 1959. Earlier in the year in May, "Uh Um" was recorded. 1959 was a very good year for Mingus.
