I think you'll enjoy those. I have begun to oscillate between those and the Amperex OA2 that I also love. The Amperex is looser and warmer, and don't push the 7308s quite as hard. . . sometimes either one is the ultimate.

Right now, continuing my exploration of the recordings of Lafayette Gilchrist. This is a trio recording, He really can play, and he writes neat tunes as well.

Listening to this one twice, first a Japanese release on cd from 2001, DSD mastering by Seth Foster, then a Japanese cd from 2006, also a DSD mastering, but not by Seth Foster (haven't discovered who yet). Subtle differences. I love this music. First official live recording of the Miles Davis Quintet with Tony Williams. I've been enjoying this since I bought the LP in the mid-seventies (and I still have that LP).

Sure sounded different than the earlier release. . . in subtle but noticeably ways. Right now a 1997 SBM Japanese cd, sounds beautiful.

The 75th Anniversary SHM-CD. I realize I have a lot of digital copies of Blue Train! The enhanced US cd. The Japanese RVG edition. The Classics Records DAD. The High Fidelity Pure Audio Blu-ray Audio. And they all sound good if a bit different. In my current system as it sits (well I guess my speakers stand!) The Blu-ray and this one sound really really good and will probably get the most play.

This used to be one of my LEAST favorite Coltrane albums. Over the decades I've liked it more and more and see why it is so "revered." Today it is sounding great as the first spin of the day.

Had I known that Gary Bartz played on one third of this I'd have bought it sooner! Really nice, with Charles Ables (Horn's longtime bassist) playing some very nice guitar on some of these tunes.

It shows 1997 in the print on the inside gatefold, but it shows different text on the run-out ("IMP 98 RE" on one side, "IMP-200-B RE-2" on the other, no "WG" or "MCA"). And it is at least 180 gram if not 200.

For some reason Freddie on this album cover to me looks like Louis Armstrong if drawn by comic book artist George Tuska.
