Well I missed you Greg, glad you're back on the board. Keep those issues behind you!

Right now

These recordings have always fascinated me. It amazes me the musical vision and imagination and organization Evans had. Here he is dueting (and more) with himself, and it sounds as if these were all simultaneous performance with four or six hands and not overdubs. Just to conceive of all these parts and execute them individually and come up with that effect. . . wow. An uncommonly gifted mind and man.

I am listening to this on the "Complete Verve Recordings" set. I have a theory that much of this was pressed or mastered out of phase. I listen to them that way rather than in phase (Love how the PerfectWave DAC has that button that allows you to go in or out of phase).

Seems as if no one has the upgrade yet? I've checked a few times the last week or so. I'm trying to be "not interested." I really like the sound I have with this now seasoned PWDAC. And I don't want to spend another grand on it. And I don't want to open it up and do this upgrade myself. So I'm trying to ignore it.

As for the post count, I had an earlier account that I don't remember precisely how many there were but it was thousands. Some years back I accidentally deleted it. This post count is only part of the story of my excessive posting!

You are a stronger man than I. I ordered mine early, and am looking forward to it. I love the PWDAC, but the prospect of it being even better was too much to resist. And for $795 (early order price), they have essentially rebuilt the thing, and allowed current owners not to be left behind. Although I agree it ain't cheap, I applaud PS Audio's providing the upgrade path.

Okay just noticed that the first upgrade owner posted impressions. Sounds like a winner. Now I can continue ignoring the upgrade.

I applaud them too, I think they're a good company. And I would not resist so hard. . . except I really don't have the money. I've been spending a lot, and I loaned out some big money to a friend and a brother and that has not come back. Maybe next holiday season.

I'm listening to the version within the complete Verve recordings of Bill Evans box set.

I've decided that this box set sound better played out of phase after a lot of playing around yesterday. Reversing the phase on my PerfectWave DAC (so deliciously simple, pressing a button!) is great. Remembering to press the button again when playing the next item . . . not as simple as it would seem!

I got this set from amazon.de this week. . . massive. . . 141 cds and two DVDs. . . beautiful. .. .Excellent sonics. Wonderful performances. I've listened to about ten discs so far, some several times. Like the Gould, Horowitz, and Heifetz boxes in this series these are fantastic bargains. And an education.
