Ok, decided it was time to have a Vinyl Session in the Cave. I took out the 1980 Raytheon OC2's that have been in the Torii since I bought it and replaced them with the 75C1s that Will and Lon as well as others are using. I also just received a well matched pair of 1962 Amperex Military White labeled 6922's that I bought for the Torii but will add them later.

This is a Speakers Corner reissue that just came out...

Those 75C1s sounded muddy to me the first hour or so, but opened up nicely. I'm back to using Amperex OA2s though, they're giving me just the right depth and warmth. It's all about speaker placement for me though, in a different placement another whole complement may be better. It can be maddening at times.

Right now, this "fusion" record from Joe Chambers.

I think I bought others but didn't look in my tube boxes...I know I have some Tung sols though. I think all of these are NOS but the seller had a tester that didn't have a setting for them. Mark.

OA2s don't push the input tubes as hard and with the 7308s this gives a more relaxed sound. I like that.

I have been using the same pair of OA3s for about five years and have a few other pairs, I think I'm set for those as well for a long time. I alternate with OB3s, I have a pair of very old Arcturus that sound fantastic with the Mk III.

Right now, the recent Jazz Connoisseur version from Legacy (Sony) of the disc I listened to the Japanese version of last night. (Both times on my Audeze headphones via my Taboo Mk III amp, a really nice way to listen).

This one has more tracks and has a warmer sound. Very pleasant to listen to, perhaps a bit more so than the Japanese copy as it seems a bit less forward in the headphones. But the Japanese copy does have a startlingly realistic sound in comparison.

I plugged it in and am sampling tracks on you tube and Spotify via the CSP3/Monoblocks. The improvement in sound quality is pretty remarkable compared to just the laptop alone. This LP isn't on Spotify so I'm playing the tunes on it via youtube...
