I might have though I don't remember specifically the Checkerboard. I did do some exploration and dicier neighborhoods didn't deter me. . . .I fel that growing up in inner city Philadelphia and then spending six years in Africa had given me a sort of "smarts" that kept me safe. This was probably an illusion of big sorts, but one I wasn't freed from.

I'm actually listening to an episode of LOST, season 3, as I do some housework and pay some bills. I found I wasn't watching the episode, but I love the soundtrack music to this series and this season Michael Giacchino (the Academy Award winning composer of the music for LOST) seemed to hire extra cello players. The music just sounds so so good coming through the Torii and the ERRs! Amazing sound really.

Good gosh I love that "Casa" cd.

Right now I'm really enjoying the expanded reissue of "The Turning Point." Today I seem to be able to hear right into the recording (moved my speakers around a bit and it's been quite rewarding) and it really takes me back to Ohio in the mid-seventies. This was the favorite album of a friend of mine for a while.

A year ago it was just one of hundreds of deleted Original Jazz Classics cds and you could get it for three or four bucks! There's one on ebay that's not too badly priced MM. If you like the sounds you heard, you'd probably like the others from the early 'sixties by Don.
