Fantastic sound today. I'm powering the HR-1s with the Torii Mk III fed by the ZBIT using the new VooDoo Cable XLR cables I received from bottlehead; boy oh boy this is the stuff. I listened to the same ZBIT/cable combo yesterday via the Taboo Mk IV powering the HR-1s and it was great sound. . . but not like this. . .glorious.

The Bill Evans alone is now selling for that much. Anyway, Glorious music...of course...

Oh my, this is on Clear Vinyl. My other Omnivore LPs, also of Art, are on colored Vinyl. This was mastered by Kevin Gray at his Coherent Studio. Haven't figured out where it was pressed...hopefully RTI or QRP but it sounds good and is flat so I guess it doesn't matter at this point

PS...more info: Recorded in late 1956 and released in early 1957, the same year as the landmark Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section, The Art Pepper Quartet (Art Pepper: saxophone; Russ Freeman: piano; Ben Tucker: bass; Gary Fromer: drums) is back on vinyl for Record Store Day 2017. Mastered from the original mono tapes by Kevin Gray, this is not only a reissue for the (multi-generational) ages, it's the album's first appearance on vinyl in far too long. Now on clear wax, reproducing the original art and liner notes on an era-correct "tip-on" jacket, the project was overseen by Art's widow, Laurie Pepper, and Grammy-winning producer Cheryl Pawelski. To make this pressing even more special and unique, the alternate take of "Blues At Twilight" has been included as a bonus track. A gem on all fronts--this is how Jazz should be experienced. Sun Ra's "My Brother the Wind Vol. 1" the new, expanded, reissue on Cosmic Myth out this week.

I was away from home all day yesterday traveling to and from and visiting one of my sister-in-laws in Narwalk, OH and this package was left on my porch by UPS before a heavy downpour of rain occurred. Though the digipak was sealed. . . it was soaked and falling apart. Even the underside of the cd was soaked. So I ordered a new copy and am listening to the CD but can't read the notes or discographic info.

This is very different from Vol. 2 which I have on Evidence. . .very free jazz and freaky Moog. Sound is very good, which is what I expect going forward with these new reissues from the Sun Ra archives.
