The last few days I've been marveling at what the addition of a PS Audio Soloist Premier SE has done for my system. I put it in the wall ahead of my P10 and what I used to think of as a "black background" (especially with the ZTPRE in the system) became an "inky black abyss." Tiny details are audible that I had to strain to hear before even with 'phones, and the treble has become even sweeter. Very happy with the purchase (thanks busterfree!) and the resulting wonderful sound.

Right now, showing me clearly the improvement, this favorite:

I can see the improvement on my Sony TV screen as well. This outlet is worth seeking out.

I like that this thread has a number of posts. . . I like that we're listening to music and not just playing around with knobs and panels and wires and valves!

Do you have Grant Green's "Idle Moments" on Blue Note? That is what I immediately thought of when you were talking bout "mellow" above. Another great vibraphone release, not totally mellow and in fact challenging in good ways, is Gary Burton's "A Genuine Tong Funeral" on RCA. And I really love his groovycollaboration with Keith Jarrett "Gary Burton & Keith Jarrett" on Atlantic.

Another great Milt Jackson are these on cd from Savoy/Denon:

Thanks! Yes, a coworker of mine once called our work process "organic, it keeps evolving" and I feel that way about my system, it's always growing and changing and generally for the better. I'd like it to stop. . . but not really I guess as I'm always seeking little improvements. My life in general I guess is like that.

My ears are not so great at this age but when things got "black" the hum was very annoying. Now "silence in the music" is just that......
