I don't play this box set too often and I confess it doesn't sound great. It sounds better to me today. . . my system has been really evolving and the latest (RedCloud) operating firmware for my DAC has been a boon to less than stellar recordings. We're lucky this one was released at all. . . it very nearly wasn't according to Belden.

This is a very interesting four cd set with all of the piano and cello compositions of Beethoven performed first on modern instruments and then on period instruments. I'm listening to the period instruments right now. . . I'm familiar with these pieces from other interpretations but have never heard them on piano forte and a cello with gut strings before. Excellent sound.

Yes Lon, I have the Sun Bear Concerts on Vinyl somewhere but haven't found it yet. At 28 bucks I figured, what the hell...I'd get it on CD. I spent a lot of time listening to Jarrett's Solo work in the 80's. Now I listen more to his Standards Trio but it's all good. Mark.

PS...I also have streamed some of the set online in the past few years...
