Dave,

I think your instincts are spot on: the UFO transformers will improve the sound as would a ZBIT or CSP preamp. I was using a CSP2+ until the ZTPRE unseated it. . . actually with the ZBIT I only used the CSP2+ for my other sources, the PS Audio "Duo" sounded excellent with just the ZBIT added. . . gives you just under 4 volts to play with. . . a nice batch of gain to play with.

It's funny how three recent "leaps" in Decware design have taken the sound forward: the Jensen balanced to single-ended transformer introduction to the sources and ZBIT, the UFO transformers, and now the 25th Anniversary regulation and bypass changes. Innovation (and Steve?) never rests at Decware!I have all three of these new "topologies" in my system now. . . an expensive addition but one that I have to say really satisfies!

Duke Ellington & John Coltrane on Impulse; Ultimate HQCD from Universal Japan.

I've been using these Ultimate HQCD discs to do some tube-rolling. I have found an Amperex 12AU7 in the ZROCK2, GE 6DJ8s ("smokies") in the input of the Monoblocks and RCA 5V4 bottle-shaped rectifiers to be the changes that are staying in at least today. A more "spacious" sound, more resonant. I'm leaving the 6N5P in the ZTPRE, they are excellent there, invisible and yet magical.

They had a reissue of the below from Columbia/Legacy/Sony but it's pressed by MPO which I'm not familiar. I'd like a reissue from the usual audiophile Vinyl reissuers...
