Still playing Show 2 from this set. Love Jerry playing the "Alligator" Stratocaster. That and "Wolf" are my two favorite guitars in his hands, and both are represented in this set. Great sound on this set too--God Bless the Plangent Process.

My two girls are sleeping (Lucy, who turned 60 yesterday, and Fiona the miniature dachshund who is of an indeterminate age but a mature gal) and the headphones are on. My headphone set up is really delivering these days, I used to sigh and settle for listening to them, but now I actually look forward to doing so.

Tracks 1- 4 recorded at the Bambbo Club in Ontario in 1985 and were broadcast on March 23, 1985.
Tracks 5-8 were recorded at Muttart Hall, Alberta University doing the Jazz City Music Festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 11993 and broadcast on September 25.

That is a brilliant box design and it sounds like it very well ought to be. In terms of focused listening I've never gone beyond a couple of Dead LPs like Blues for Allah and Live/Dead and wouldn't mind a few starting point suggestions for further live material.

At the moment Horace Silver is back with those Tokyo Blues yet again :)

I would definitely recommend the original "Europe '72" if you don't have it, and there's a second compilation of the '72 material called "Europe '72 Vol. 2" that is also excellent. I can also recommend the 3 cd set released last week of these '73 and '74 Pacific Northwest shows. . . these shows were quite good.

'72 through '74 are in my opinion good years with a variety of material and a spirited approach. I can make other recommendations if desired. . . I have a lot of Grateful Dead, I have collected all the official releases spanning the years up through '78 with one exception: I never bought the "porch crusher" set: "Thirty Trips Around the Sun."

I'm going to be topical and alternately thin mercurial for a while: just got in a copy of the "Big Blue" Collectors Edition of Bob Dylan "1965-1966: The Cutting Edge" which is 18 discs and about as much material in live MP3 files.

A wonderful fascinating journey through a specific 16 months. I'm going to sprinkle it into my listening rotation and have a great early fall.

Well I didn't get out to the record store yet for anything new (not chronologically speaking, to me anything new to me is new) but right now I have Milt Jackson - Memphis Jackson on the go. Very 1969. Enjoying it. Terrible sound though.

Ha oh for a second life from 18 huh?

I was overtaken by a fresh Beatlemania episode a couple years back. Like many, the MFSL Meet the Beatles escaped my grasp, but I have the rest of theirs. Though even without MFSL The Beatles sure have been lucky as far as popular pre-digital Capitol/EMI has gone. What a contrast the 60s are to today. The change over their run still amazes me. Happy to say, I have no problem enjoying all of it. Last round Beatles For Sale and Magical Mystery Tour were my favorites.
