I received about a dozen of these 2 disc sets (cd, and dual DVD one side 24/96, one 24/192) which are on sale at Acoustic Sounds for 2 to 7 dollars each or so, worth checking out. Phenomenal sound.

I'm listening to a compilation I made of all the tracks Ed Motta recorded over the course of a few years for a series of "Songbook" cd volumes featuring the compositions of Brazilian songwriters.

This is a great group of work and surprisingly administering them chronologically is a great sequence.

I love Motta's singing, composing and playing. He's a big man, and an even bigger talent.

This Bob Dylan set is great...I know Lon has the big box. It was one of three items I picked up on Record Store Day when I made a failed attempt to get several LPs including "Bill Evans In England" and Bob Dylan's 'Blood On The Tracks - Original New York Test Pressing' Below is my post on Steve Hoffman's Forum after my fail. I have looked on ebay when I arrived home and again this morning, already the flippers are jacking up the prices well above double. I like that this music is being released but the way it is distributed leaves a bad taste in my mouth every year when I feel gouged if I buy from the resellers...

Well, I'm glad some people got what they wanted. I buy a lot of reissues as well as used on ebay. I hadn't gone to a physical record store for years but wanted the Vinyl Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead and maybe the Jeff Buckley or Albert King LPs. It was raining in Dallas so I took an umbrella...arrived 15 minutes before open and was #136 in line. They let the first 100 people make their RSD purchases first. I had never been to Josey Records before, it's been open for 4 years and is huge and has both new and used vinyl and CDs...I'll go back when it isn't so crowded. Long story short after waiting about 1.5 hours, my group number hadn't even been called to stand in line. I asked a guy checking out non RSD purchases to check if the Bill Evans or Bob Dylan were all gone, yes they were. The Grateful Dead hadn't been received at the store at all. So I struck out on RSD. I did wander around looking and bought an Oscar Peterson CD, a Bootleg Bob Dylan CD set and a 2 dollar 2 LP set in NM condition Chuck Mangione with the Rochester Philharmonic for kicks. So not a total fail. I already checked ebay and there have been sales and offers to sell for more than double retail. I pre-ordered the Bill Evans CD set. I don't think camping out for a couple LPs is something I'm willing to do so I'll pass on Record Store Day and pick up the titles I can later...I have quite a few. My legs ache and knee is throbbing...oh well, it was an experience I'll remember.Was in line at 6:45 am....in the rain....

Well shit. I was at plaid room and had both the Evans In England and Bob Dylan LP as well as the albert king in my cart but while I was entering my name address and CC information and I continued to shipping method my cart was updated to sold out for the Evans and Dylan LPs...what a load of shit. Mark.

When I began they had over 40 of each left...man do I feel cheated

I wonder if I chose Pay Pal if it would have sped things up?

That's a drag Mark. I've had good luck with some RSD releases "after the fact" . . . down the line a week or a month or two. But those have been items less sought after than Dylan or even Evans--for example Sun Ra and Monk.

I did read on Hoffman that the Dylan is available for just less than forty dollars on amazon.ca and ordered one yesterday. . . . we'll see if I get it. It's the one item I really want that won't be available after RSD (I'm fine with the Evans on cd and it's already pre-ordered, likewise the Dead.)

The Dylan retailed for $19.99 and was a no frills kinda deal. On amazon there are two sellers, both asking triple...about $60 and ebay has a bunch of ongoing auctions for over double...I find the whole thing irritating...

Lon, has the Dylan Test Pressing been released on CD? If not I bet Sony/Legacy would do so after the dust settles and they see the demand. Have these tracks been released in one of the official bootleg series boxes? Some are saying they like the Test Pressing versions better than what was released on the original album...
