Today I listened to two in the Blue Note 80th Anniversary reissue series from Blue Note Universal Japan, Cecil Taylor "Conquistador" and Stanley Turrentine's "Up at Minton's Vol. 2."
And I listened to Helen Merrill, "Clear Out of this World," on Antilles. Great Tom Harrell and Red Mitchell on this one.
And I started off with half of this cd, Sammy Davis Jr. and Carmen McRae "Boy Meets Girl."
I love Carmen, but the first album ("Boy Meets Girl") is a bit too cheesy for me. The second album on this disc, I really dig: "Porgy and Bess." Sammy does very well here, and Carmen shines as "Bess". . . .
