I just don't like to "celebrate myself." Every year I try hard to ignore it and have it be ignored. I have been gaining some success, but not complete. I'm not worried really about the "getting older" part, I actually enjoy being older, a lot. But our family never did make a big deal about birthdays and I like to try to continue that. Wish me some luck.

I'm off to visit with my Dad and his sister who is visiting the area from Michigan to attend her class of '46 Louisville, Ohio High School Reunion!

Been on quite a musical journey today. Started with the 3 Sounds "Moods" on an 80th Anniversary Japanese Blue Note cd Followed by the XRCD of Johnny Griffin "The Little Giant." Then Duke Pearson's "It Could only Happen with You" on a Japanese Blue Note EMI cd. Then Carlos Santana and Alice Coltrane "Illumination" on the Vocalion Dutton SACD. Finally right now Keith Jarrett Trio "Up for It" on ECM cd.

I buy from Elusive Disc, Music Direct and Acoustic Sounds for audiophile vinyl. I don't remember where I bought that one. Sometimes Amazon has some good vinyl. Mark.

PS...I checked all three and that one is no longer available. What they do have is an Analogue Productions 2 LP 45 RPM reissue for $50 at Acoustic Sounds and Elusive Disc...Music Direct has it for $55. You could try ebay for a used copy.

Carmen McRae "Live at Sugar Hill in San Francisco." Time Records/Solid Records Japan cd.

I love Carmen and this is one of her best. Her voice is so controlled and expressive and there's a mellowness at the core of her delivery here not always captured in her recordings.
