OK. I became a cd person because in the late 'eighties and early 'nineties I couldn't find the LPs that my huge appetite craved. And that really hasn't changed. I do both, but I'm like over 95 percent a cd listener, and have found so so many great recordings to listen to, something I still can't really afford to do with vinyl. And digital pressing and playback has become so improved. . . I've tailored my system around it and am getting amazing sound.

Me too. Now I’m becoming more of a download fan because it is easier and often cheaper to find the music I want that way. Also I’m low on cd shelf space.

I went full in with the CDs when they became a reality.
But, I never gave up my LPs. I went almost two years without a turntable set up, once, because we had fresh babies.
... I taught them to listen to music.

I have more CDs and LPs that I can possibly fit on my racks. I am working toward a more workable solution, but not there yet.
That doesn't mean that I can stop buying cool new stuff or really cool old stuff.

My latest is from Bandcamp and I also DL'ed the highest res FLAC files they offer. You can stream everything over there with an account.

Lately I’ve been buying a lot of the “8 albums on 4 CD” collections from all the big names to get stuff that I should have bought a long time ago but never got around to it.

CAJ, I have actually bought a number of those collections as well.
I had found quite a few I wanted before this bounty of old/new to me stuff fell into my lap last spring.
All those assembled "five in one" or "eight on four" have all been jazz for me.

I am almost at the halfway point with this stack, but I still have 40+ cartons I have yet to break the tape seals and I think there are a few more of just CDs in this stack.
The tightly packed CD cartons are much heavier than 70 or 90 LPs (still quite heavy) in one legal sized banker box.

That´s a great one Lon, have it on mono vinyl and the sound makes one wonder why they bothered with inventing stereo to begin with.... I was drawn to at first just for the cover and looked past the mono thing, and glad I did.

I use to be all cd and have a few thousand still but I´ve kind of let my cd replay system go to rot... Need a new laser for my venerable old Pioneer pd-93 (most organic cd player I´ve ever heard) but those laser pickups are hens-teeth these days and a lot of fakes out there... So now I only listen to cd´s in the car... which is fine.

But right now it´s house-cleaning and to pick up the pace there is nothing better than a bit of Yma Sumac and what a fantastic sounding re-production vinyl it is too....

Marvin Gaye "You're the Man" Motown cd

A post-humous release of a Gaye album that was prepared to be released in '72. . . but ultimately never released until 2019.

The lyrics of the title song (which was the only part of the album previously released, as a single) contain the perhaps always timely line "politics and hypocrites is turning us all into lunatics."

That Sonny Clark LP features the legs of Alfred Lion and his wife Ruth Lion. Always tickles me.

This appears to be a reissue of the 2005 mastering that featured the addition of "Stella By Starlight."

This was the first official release of the Quintet with Wayne Shorter. A magnificent concert, my favorite being "Autumn Leaves."
