My wife's niece and her husband and her darling boy and girl are in town for a week plus from Austin and we spent the day with them. . . we may spend almost every day with them as the kids love my wife so and they are real corkers.

But this morning is colder and raining and Brazilian music seemed a good start to the day--and joea Bosca's happy and warm music seemed just the right fit.

One of my favorite albums of this decade.

The Complete in a Silent Way Sessions is apparently much more than just the "In a Silent Way" sessions, but it is also a revelation. I guess I would call it Bitches Brew with training wheels.

With the current system setup this sounds so so good.

A good friend sent me a Shakti Stone "Air" (the new model that Shakti has come out with) and I set it on top of my ZROCK2 (best fit in my system for it) and left it sit last night and listened to the system today. And then another Shunyata Research Defender arrived this afternoon so it's in the outlet with the power cord for my PS Audio P15 now.

Both have made an audible improvement to the sound. The "Air" has given me a sliver of additional soundstage detail, welcome in this system. The Defender has given me a tiny twinge of rich darkness, also welcome. Both have given a sprinkle of punch--bass drums kick more, percussion has more of a sense of hands on skinheads.

Very happy to have moved another few steps up the plateau I have been traversing.

Got this box set on vinyl for Christmas and running it through my Torii.  So far I’m on the first album…. and I’m really enjoying it.  

One disappointment was that there was a crease in the second album cover.  Also…running it through the spin clean produced a good amount of residue that flaked off from the pressing.  

The included booklet is nice documentary and offers a variety of news articles from when he first started out.

Quite a nice cd from bassist Martin. Turner was the lure for me, but this is a very interesting quartet.

I like it.. from release called Jazz images, who give you an alternative cover by famous jazz photographers, sound is excellent too, good enough to scare the cat.

Cold this morning. To be honest the system sounds best when the ambient room temperature is a bit lower.

Started off with disc one of the new Blu-Spec CD2 of Miles Davis "Black Beauty." Wow. Over the years I've become more accustomed to the way this is recorded (especially the first quarter) and appreciative of the raw energy and the early interpretations of some of this material. Fascinating, churning sounds.



On to something different.Pulled this from the shelves and it is drawing me in as Fiona the dachshund settles down. Great sounding disc of warm bouncy music.
