I like her music, too. I have only heard a bit from streaming and I have no memory from which albums the tracks originated.
Need to look into her music a bit in time.

My original thoughts that lead me to post right now actually go into the ""Bitch Abiout It!"" column.

Got a purchase in from an eBay vendor that was a bootleg effort.

"Eric Burdon and War" a favorite era of both musical entities. The item I bought came in a ziplock baggie with an inkjet printing on plain computer paper of a DVD outer cover and an unlabeled DVD-R inside.
I was PISSED!!
I really wanted to own that DVD with Eric Burdon appearing live with War.

... NOT "The War" as was printed on the fake DVD cover.

I sent an email, reported to his feedback and demanded a refund and told him I was going to ship it right back.
About twenty minutes later a response came telling me that I did not have to send it back, but the funds are already replaced into my account.

I was tempted but not fully driven to create an addendum to my harsh feedback and compliment his quick response to my concerns. I have not been fully moved to do so yet. This turd just needs to quit re-selling this shit this way.

From another seller I also received an nice pair of Ahmad Jamal, A Milt Jackson and a quad of Wes Montgomery CDs.

SO, I am spinning Ahmad Jamal, All Of You on CD for the moment.
Odd that Discogs only shows LPs from a simple search. I know it exists. I have one in hand and it is also Argo (6), same as the LPs, printed in Italy (?).

I know there was a Japanese cd, and maybe one "gray area" from Europe. I have a copy of the LP but like most of the Jamal albums I've bought rather beat up. I have the material in the Mosaic box set of the Jamal Argos, great stuff.

I really thought I had found a rare treasure with that Burdon/War disc by sweeping through the back alley ways some. Oh, well.

The first batch of these new 85th Anniversary Blue Note cds arrived this afternoon. Decided to spin this one first, after listening to three tracks the most recent previous cd release from Japan. This one sounds a bit improved in ways that I like the sound to be: a bit mellower, a bit less of a front projected image.

I enjoy listening to these two sax players each develop their solos in melodic ideas that I am able to follow. And the saxophones just sound good in this recording.

And also listening to Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt each playing with organist Jack McDuff in recordings from 1962. Jack McDuff and Gene Ammons, "Brother Jack Meets the Boss" recorded in January 1962.

Pretty "bluesy" music, and I think Gene Ammons has a unique sound on his saxophone.

Followed by Sonny Stitt on "Stitt Meets Brother Jack" recorded in February 1962.

You can definitely hear a recognizable "McDuff" sound. I really like Sonny Stitt on this recording, where he sounds pretty relaxed and comfortable. I also includes a song which shows off one of his "quirks," to extend endings out a long time. On the song "'Nother Fu'ther," he returns to the head, but then extends the ending for about two and a half minutes, where you keep saying to yourself "yes, he is going to wrap it up here," and then he keeps going.

Listening to Dizzy Gillespie "The Eternal Triangles" CD put out by Fresh Sound Records in 2009.

This CD is a compilation of three records recorded in the late 1950s: (1) Dizzy Gillespie with Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt on "Duets;" (2) Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt on "Sonny Side Up;" and (3) Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt and Stan Getz on "For Musicians Only."

I was thinking it was Miles Davis on trumpet instead of Gillespie (to fit with some of the Miles recordings that Lon has been listening to) but mis-remembered who played on this!

I am enjoying this, though I find some of it challenging (really fast solos on some songs, where I can follow portions of the solos but sometimes I "lose the thread." The recording is also sounding good to me.

This is a great trio (and on several tracks quartet) recording. Evans has his own identity as a composer and player, a strong identity. I really like how these pieces are arranged as well. And then there's Christian McBride. . .

And it's not an audiophile recordings per se but it will make your system shine and show off a bit.

That Bud Powell album is really good. I have that one on vinyl, and it gets regular play. This just arrived today on vinyl from Acoustic Sounds. Duke Ellington Live from the Berlin Jazz Festival. Very dynamic recording with great detail. There’s a song where someone is tap dancing on stage…and it’s amazing how good it sounds. This was the first vinyl I played since I added the new Miflex caps to my Err’s.
