This is a gorgeous recording that will show off your system wonderfully. And fascinating music.

Just the right thing for this morning after a beautiful wedding ceremony tinged with some sadness as the father of the groom, my brother, had a heart attack early yesterday morning, had three stents put in and is recuperating well, but he and his wife, who put so much into the preparation of this wedding, couldn't attend. Sigh. At least he is doing well, thank all that is good.

Lucy and I danced for about an hour. . . we're sore this morning.

Lon - I hope your brother is continuing to recover well.

Listening to some Kenny Burrell this morning, starting with "Bluesy Burrell" (with Coleman Hawkins) recorded in 1962:

This CD has "grown on me" over time, perhaps I am becoming more familiar with (and comfortable with) Coleman Hawkins' sax playing.

Following this with "Kenny Burrell and John Coltrane," recorded in 1958:

His wonderful wife (I adore her) is a nurse so he'll be in good hands at home as well. I love both Kenny and Coleman!

Took a while to get cool last night! But it is pleasant now. I’ll enjoy the cool while I can–it is due to be scorching this week.

Starting off with a box set I pulled from the back row of one shelf.

The Complete Riverside Recordings of Bill Evans, cd 4

Trio with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, and part of the Quartet with Cannonball Adderley, Percy Heath and Connie Kay. Early digital, remastered by George Horn, sounding quite nice.

OMG! I've got most of this as individual recordings (everyone should) but it is a dirt cheap download (DCD) so now I can listen to whatever I want without getting out of the chair. I remember seeing an audiophile reissue of this in Stereophile some years ago and it was close to a thousand dollars IIRC.

So for Father’s Day I took my daughter to the annual car show in Summit, NJ. The day wouldn’t be complete without stopping into Scotti’s Record Shop. After picking up a few albums, I picked up the used Yes album “Big Generator”. Needless to say that when I pulled it out today to clean it.. wedged in the bottom was a newspaper clipping about Yes dated back to December 21, 1987. Talk about a hidden treasure within the used album. I missed it when I was inspecting the album. Here’s the article…..

Listening to the system with the Cryotone 5U4G that arrived yesterday.

Still needs more hours on it. . . I like it. .. I dislike it too. Sigh. Can I fast forward a few hundred hours?

Hot last night. . . we didn't sleep as well as we'd like. Have to get used to it!

Great music!

I'm struggling to love the Cryotone 5U4G. This cryo'd Chinese (I'm pretty sure) tube just is not yet (at about 27 hours of use) nearly as good as my RCA rectifiers or the Sophia Electrics. I'll give it a few more days. . . before moving it to one of the components in my audio/video system where (in that big room) I think it will fare better.

Piano is one of my tests for the rectifiers. I'm just not getting that overall accurate sound I do from a few other rectifiers. Hopefully more hours will change things.
