Reply #25550 - 07/14/24 at 13:11:22 Decided to do some light jazz this morning while driving in my work vehicle. Landed on this David Brubeck Quartet “ Dave Digs Disney”. This album was inspired by a trip with his family to Disneyland. Very pleasing album to listen to and quite enjoyable. Streaming in Qobuz Hi Rez at 24/96.

Listening to this one again in part because earlier I was interrupted mid-way in a Dexter solo, and in part because Chuck Nessa posted in reply that he was there (as producer) and it was a crazy night! I can hear that possibility especially as I can crank it more right now. . . .

And this is a great sound--the two tenors are giving "I am the microphone" moments.

Listening to the second album on this Sonny Phillips compilation again as I got interrupted and driven away for the day. Man. . . Melvin Sparks is always an inspiration for me, and Rusty Bryant shines here. I so wish Concord would compile his work, or let Mosaic do so etc. Probably will NEVER happen, but I'd love to have all his Fantasy-label material under one cover.

Currently Streaming in my work vehicle Oscar Peterson’s “Great Connection”. If you want clean pianos and deep bass…. Give this album a listen. Personally I feel that at times the volume level of the bass in comparison to the piano is too hot and takes away from the music….IMHO YMMV. It’s not all the time…just here and there. This is a remaster…so maybe that is part of the culprit.
