So I posted this album last week. Currently streaming at home in Qobuz. My daughter is in the play for her theater arts group and tonight is last night of the show. While this has always been a favorite of mine…..it has now officially lost its flavor due to being played in my house every day for the past 3 weeks as she rehearses 😳.

Reply #25660 - 08/03/24 at 20:28:03 Listening to the Django Reinhardt 5 CD box set "Postwar Recordings" (on JSP Records): Includes Django playing electric guitar. While always recognizable, it does seem like he plays a bit differently on many of the songs - to me an interesting change of pace from his pre-war recordings on acoustic guitar.

Re-listened to "The Genius of Coleman Hawkins" because it was still in the transport and . . . well it's a great album.

Now, enjoying the cool and quiet of this lovely morning, I'm on to "Stan Levey Quintet," Mode/Muzak Japan lp facsimile cd. These Muzak remasterings sound wonderful! And this is a really nice date.

Now onto a new arrival, the new remaster reissue of Sun Ra "Strange Strings" . . . a bizarre even by Ra standards recording. If it weren't for the anchor of the amazing Ronnie Boykins bass playing . . . i probably would not listen to this. The original cd issue has been in deep storage a long time so I can't do a comparison but the sound of this mastering is excellent.
