I'm listening this week in wonder. The system sounds better than ever. I credit the sets of Stack Audio EVO isolation feet I swapped in for my VooDoo Cable IsoPods used for years. Those have given me a bit "wetter" and richer presentation without obscuring any detail or damping any dynamics.

And I think the Graphene "Sluggos" I am using in the components with the three Swiss Digital Fuse Boxes I'm using have slowly steadily seasoned and are really helping those components be all that they can be. The move away from Cryotone to Amperex tubes in the system is a fctor as well.

I'm sipping some Ruta Maya Organic Mexican medium roast coffee with cream, my aged dachshund is asleep beside me, my wife is happily decorating for fall downstairs, and I'm just marveling at the sound. A great afternoon here in this sylvan neighborhood.

SEVENTEEN years ago today we lost my first wife, Helen Elizabeth Haggerty, who was a brilliant and loyal and kind and compassionate woman. Thinking of her today, as I do every day.

She would have loved the sylvan life I have now, and this cool autumn morning.

She learned to like the Grateful Dead over time, I played them enough and they grew on her. This box set startles me with its excellent sound.

Fiona the dachshund let me sleep until 6:30. Wow, this is strange. A cool morning and the world out there is very still.

Yesterday I played with two different rectifiers in my SEWE300B and popped in another this morning. With the transparent nature of this amp the sound result from just a different rectifier is surprising!

I guess I shouldn't say "surprised" above. . . because nothing like that surprises me really with this amazing amplifier. Just seemed very distinctive these instances. (And not surprisingly I'm all the way back to where I started with a Psvane Treasure 274B-Z -- there is just a slightly wet richness to the presentation this rectifier brings that I crave!)

Right now. . . really enjoying the "Black Jazz" label sound here. . . fits my mood this morning.

Just picked this up on Discogs factory sealed in Mint condition. I had posted/listened to this 2 weeks ago streamed on Qobuz. This LP is very vibrant and dynamic. This is from the London label with the wording “stereophonic ffrr “ going across the whole label. I do gets some pops and clicks every now and then, but other than that it’s excellent..

This music has long been among my favorite Hendrix.

Finishing up the fourth disc of the Bob Dylan "1974 Live" box set. This is going to be a slog to get through, this box set. I like the music okay. . . but his singing style this tour bugs me a bit.

Now on to Grateful Dead "Friend of the Devils: April 1978" box set, sixth show, disc 1

Contrary to the Dylan I'm really enjoying this box set, I don't think I've ever enjoyed 1978 Dead this much before, in part because of the excellent sound.

Jack Teagarden "Think Well of Me" Verve stereo LP

I have the mono LP as well, and the Verve cd. They all sound good.

I was struck today by how wonderful Don Goldie always played, his rich tone matching Teagarden so well. And also that the harp here is well-employed, I'm not that much of a harp fan but it is a plus in these sad-tinged arrangements.

A real sense of what the Brazilians call "saudade" here. Made me think: Tea might have been a great bossa nova vocalist.
