A beautiful album from "Orquestra Popular de Câmara" on Adventure Music. The sound is wonderful and the arrangements and performances not your typical Brazilian but something new. As soon as you hear the tabla you know you're in for something atypical.

I'll have to seek out their second album. This one has st on the shelves a long time and I'm glad I am revisiting it today.

Starting off a relatively warm morning with a re-listen to this one. Man. .. the sound on this is vivid. Of course as the leader is a bassist that is very closely miked, but OMG it sounds as if you are five feet in front of a wondeful bass.

Outside this morning there were four deer in our side yard when I took Fiona the dachshund out. They stood and watched me as I watched them for a few minutes. Then they moseyed off calmly. This is the third morning this month I've encountered deer, possibly the same deer, and we're all more relaxed with each other. A big plus to living here.

Re-listening to the second half of this one again this cool morning. Fiona the dachshund and I were battling wills this morning. She wanted up way too early, and I managed to get her to go back to sleep twice. . . but lost this third time. I could use more sleep--going to have to make up for that later.

This Nash cd is quite nice--it's fun to have the two trumpeters alternating here (not playing together)

Listening to this one again. It was worth the wait. As an XRCD24 the mastering is just right, and the performance is as intimate as you can get. I really enjoy these women jazz vocalists who can play and sing. . . and especially when in Carmen's case she is so little recorded at the piano, this one is a real treat.

I'm glad I saved this for a treat when I've come to really love Carmen.

Two excellent bass and drum teams forming trios here. An exceptional debut.

Yesterday I was able to crank the audio/video system and listen to and watch the Wynona Judd "Austin City Limits" episode. What a band she and her husband had, and how polished and controlled the performance. Great great audio as well. My first pair of HR-1 (one of the final prototypes) sound fantastic driven by CSP3 and clone Zen amp.

The amazing SACD stereo/quad release of Santana "Borboletta" from Sony.

This recording is part of my listening foundation, I've enjoyed it ever since its first release and man it has never sounded better (listening to the stereo SACD layer). Just such a great sequenced, mixed and performed album now in sonic glory.

Starting off with a Stan Getz I had not heard in some time, Steeple Chase cd "Copenhagen Unissued Session 1977" which is a quartet with Joanne Brackeen, NHO Pedersen and Billy Hart. Truly nice sound and performances.

It's been a long time since I listened to this. Clearly a Weather Report "side" album, but the arco playing makes me think that it may have been an inspiriation for McLaughlin to include a violinist in his Mahavishnu Orchestra that was soon to follow.
