LR, glad you're getting more play time in. I'll go back later and listen to the links you gave. It took me a while to get the music cranked up this morning. My NOS National Union 5U4 that had to be "wiggled" the past few days to get it to work, refused to function despite all my efforts. Moved it to the other side of the Torii then even to the CSP 3...I think it may be Kaput. But we shouldn't feel too bad, after all, it's about 70 years old. I just wish I'd gotten more than 3 days use out of it. So to get the music going I used the Chinese 5U4 that came stock in my ZP3 with the remaining National Union 5U4 that still works in the Torii, for now.

Now to the LP spinning...this is why we put up with tube frustration. Georg Solti's 1972 Decca recording of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony...amazing. I am not that knowledgeable about Classical recordings but this has to be in the top ten at least. Mark.

Lon please, I'm hoping it's weeks, not months!

I have another week off around Xmas, and if Steve and crew don't get too busy, they might actually have the MA done around Xmas (total speculation - figured while stalking the amp build list).

Listening to Best of MapleShade v3 Jazz Grooves I got a rip from a friend to check out. I think this is the right cover.

Enjoyed this stuff as Prince is a hell of a songwriter, and under-appreciated guitarist, but I never really cottoned to music of the pop '80s like I did the music of the '60s and then rock and metal in general.

This was released in 1981...Jazz Fusion typical for the period...not really a favorite now but nice to hear the late Mike Brecker blowing again. Mark.

I just finished this LP...Different venue for Bill Evans...not a favorite for me though. Mark.

PS...LR, the OA3's that came with my Torii MK IV didn't have a brand or even the designation OA3 on them. I think they had the number 8701 and CR something maybe 20...the r looked like it might be a Russian letter. I already replaced them with NOS RCA OA3's and as you know I have one for the ZP3 and 3 spares on the way bought at ebay. Today I also bought four RCA clear top 12AU7's for my ZP3 (three spares) They are labeled Conn... 10 bucks a piece. At first I thought I got a great deal then I looked around on ebay...these are in no way rare...lots available for what I paid or less. Now the Amprex 12AU7's are another story.

I know this music mostly via the Guarnieri Quartet sets and to a lesser extent the Tokyo Quartet's. This set is more rhythmic with a very focused and tight ensemble sound. Quite nice sound if a bit closely miked.

This is the new cd lp facsimile reissue from Culture Factory. Far from a "purist" transfer, it's loud and very very alive. I think it's awesome.

What I wasn`t expecting was the trippy rythym sections. Very free form and Miles comes and goes fluidly. Theres also some nice bass clarinet. This is the single vinyl, there is a 2x, [mutter]. sorry about the pic.

Digger, in the posting page, do you see the third little tool icon on the top row that sort of looks like a picture frame? If you select that you should be able to put the url of a picture between the html image commands.

Listening to this again. A very interesting listening. "Flamenco Sketches" sounds even more beautiful in this mono mix, the piano is gorgeous. The horns too, very full, no shrillness. All the tracks sound great.
