This LP next...it has Charlie Haden in Mingus' seat. It even has Jimmy Knepper on it, Lon.  It's got all the Spirit and Swing of Mingus.  Mark.

I'd say t has SOME of the spirit and swing of Mingus. It's alright, I have it. Not the same, to me, as Mingus himself though.

Right now, the new Culture Factory reissue, sounds awesome

I still had Little Feat's "Waiting for Columbus" in the CDP so I couldn't resist playing "Spanish Moon" and "Fat Man In The Bathtub" again.  Take a listen and tell me these tunes aren't irresistible...

Lon showing his Beautiful New Guitar fashioned after one of Garcia's got me thinking about the Dead but I have none on Vinyl so I resisted until now,  I saw "American Beauty" sitting face up on the shelf...it beaconed me.  So here it is...the whole echilada

I LOVE moondance! I also "didn't get it" a long time ago, only really appreciating the title track....BUT last year I gave it another crack...I have it on CD....and I was like "Woah"....just awesome music....recorded very well too....at least that is what my system is telling me. I think I appreciate every song on there now....i need more of his stuff, and the fact that he's still active is inspiring. Just an awesome musician with a unique voice.

I've been tempted by the HD tracks version....but my CD sounds SO great as is.......MAYBE I'll bite at some point...but right now, there are plenty of other great albums to crack into! I'm trying to decide what my next "venture" will be album wise..........maybe I'll fill ya'll in once I've decided. But I must say that I'm liking all the music talk on the forums lately. Well, I've turned off the ZP3.  I think I've found the tube complement I like. Even though I've got a RCA long black plate with D getter 12AU7 and a GE gray plate O getter 5814A coming in a few days, I don't think the 1960 RCA Clear Top will be displaced...maybe with a Holland made Amprex 12AU7 in the future. The rest of the tubes in the ZP3 are 1960 Raytheon 12AX7's, 50's RCA 5Y3 G (Coke Bottle), 1958 RCA OA3.  I'd be interested in what other ZP3 owners are using.

Anyway, I'm now in a Grateful Dead mood. I looked for live CDs and could find only 40+...I know I have more boxed up.  The one I have chosen is Dick's Picks #14...two concerts in Nov. and Dec. 1973 in Boston. I'm starting with CD 2 because it's later in the concerts when the jamming usually occurs that I Love. Mark.

One of my favorites by one of my favorites. I hear this as a sort of Coltrane tribute, the music really invokes the spirit of his music to me.

Sounds fantastic going throughout the ZP3 into the cSP2+ into the Mk III.

Sure do like the Little Feet band sounds good! I forgot all about that band. I love this thread all types of music being presented sure is nice to try different stuff. Even if some isn't my cup of tea it is giving me the opportunity to like something different.

Spinning this now! Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon

I've been listening to very mellow music lately...I don't know, maybe I'm showing my age or something. I really enjoyed the pacing and depth of Earth - I'm winding down the night with some Trip-Hop, downbeat type stuff with some soft vocals. The XX - Coexist (Japanese Edition)

Well, I'm back in the Listening Cave. You guys have been busy since I left yesterday. Some great music spinning in Decware Land.

Digger, I love "Dark Side of the Moon".  Recently I bought a used 25 year Anniversary CD from Half Price Books and Records.  I have the remaster somewhere and after reading the info on the Anniversary copy, I discovered it was the same remaster in different packaging....so I returned it...after listening to it a few times...hehe.

I'm back to vinyl after my Grateful Dead CD binge last night...it was glorious.  Next LP up is another Electra Musician offering...very nice.

This LP next.  Another Electra Musician LP...

I'm going to start a new thread about tubes in the Torii MK IV...I'm specifically looking for someone who has used 6L6 output tubes...how do they sound?  Mark.

Amps warming up. ZP3 tubes ; RCA 5R4GY`s single and double D bottom getters Phillips 5R4GY bottom dimpled pan getter. Was using the Phillips  as stock for couple months. and occasionally changing 12au7`s (all long plate); 4x TFK grey, ladder and smooth `O` gets. Mullard D get 60`s ladder. Brimar mill blkbrn halo, ladder. 2x Phillips miniwatt, slanted D `58 ladder (one in now with Italian tax sticker ) 4 creases on top. I like them all. Phillips and Mullard touch more vintage feel.  12ax7`s are x3 mica syvania and Webcor. Prefer sylvs. Must get some more variety.
Last 2 weeks I have revisited the RCA rectifiers. The 2x D getter has a slightly more extended bass power I like. You hear it ,just, but feel it in your ears, and your body when the bass player gives it a bit of radiating energy.
Regulator; Raytheon OA3

Well you`ve had me hunting around Mark, found out the TFK`s weren`t all one kind and found a Tung Sol 12ax7 which is a mystery.
We both deserve a treat.
Power, Corruption and Lies.  New Order

Thanks for the info Marky.  I hadn't planned on rolling 12AX7s, I'm quite happy with the Raytheons I have there but after reading about the Sylvania 5751 triple Micas, I may have to try a pair in the ZP3....probably the black plate variety.  The sound I'm getting the past few days is the best I've gotten so far.

I just opened this sealed 3 LP set...

Long time no Jimi...this is a reissue....Electric Ladyland. He`s just starting Voodoo Chile      `fly on

case in point for the bass power. Noel Redding is very busy on the bass. Before Decwares I never really heard all his background stuff clearly. The ZP3 handles it all with ease. He`s quiet but his amp is putting out high power. The RCA `DD`s make you feel  the energy as pulses.

The next LP is the first Return To Forever album on ECM...very nice.  I'd like to play more of their albums but I haven't found them yet...ditto for Weather Report.  I'd love to play "Heavy Weather" and "Romantic Warrior"...someday, someday before I'm gone.  Mark.

OK, I'm back to Keith Jarrett. This is a three LP ECM set of two solo concerts recorded in 1981. I plan on listening to the one at München on June 2, 1981.  Mark.

PS..these were played at the end of the concert...

Stuck in Peoria for a couple days for work - no listening for me.

It's too bad too, since my Zen amp has suddenly blossomed lately. I'm wondering if those changes that Steve made to the amp needed some break in time. Either way, sounds good and I'm missing it will on the road!

Folks, I didn't get any music in yesterday.  I have computer issues and was on the phone with some guys from India off and on for over 7 hours with them controlling my computer much of the time...they will send different software was the outcome.  Plus my computer was put back to new status with all settings, documents, programs and downloads...GONE.

Anyway, I have a question.  I was on Amazon looking at Pink Floyd Box Sets...there are lots, the most recent remaster being 2011.  I would like input on which CD versions...remasters... sound best on Decware equipment,in your opinions.  I'm thinking about buying a new set rather than trying to find my individual CD copies...early 90's remasters.  Mark.

I'm interested in hearing if the 2011 remasters sound good to folks as well. I think the CD's I have are early 90's remasters and I hate to say it (and well, I'm sure I'm not the first) but they aren't up to snuff sonically. I mean, it's Floyd so it's amazing stuff....but these versions of the album don't sound nearly as good as some of the other albums in my collection and.....that just sucks because I love their stuff and I want it to sound amazing as well.

If the 2011 editions are better then I think I may buy a whole set (on CD).....or I'll hold out a little longer to see if their stuff get's released in hi-resolution digital download versions. That could be sweeeeeet. But with a band like Pink Floyd, for me it's nice to have a physical copy to hold and a booklet to flip through Smiley

Cant help on the Fluid...to think they never used digital with Waters in the band for recording. They must have live master tapes of many live shows pre 80`s. They`ve never tapped the market. Fond memories of the live shows. Before the start they`d have the tapes playing for an hour....people whistling out or tractor sounds. At Kebworth a Spitfire flew  right over the stage with a victory roll as they came on. Then they spent 15 mins tuning up.

I saw this L. Feat tour at the Rainbow. Possibly the best time I saw floyd was there on a double header with Soft Machine for Rodert Wyatts Benefit conceert. Really thick cables all over the stage.
