At long last,  I'm back in the Listening Cave and have pulled several albums I don't remember listening to in the past.  This LP first up.  Mark.

PS...this album, recorded in 1972 and released on Horizon about 1975, is very good Big Band Jazz.

I put in a new NOS 12AU7 this morning...a PHILIPS AMPEREX ECC82 12AU7 made in Canada...no judgement yet.

Lon,  I promise if I ever do actually sell any LPs or CDs, I'll email you the list before posting anywhere.  However, knowing me, it won't be soon, if ever. I hate selling anything. When I get a new car, I give away the old, usually to charity.

Next LP...

Just played this one LP OOP Mosaic Record...#119 The Pete Johnson/Earl Hines/Teddy Bunn Blue Note Sessions... This was part of my 15 Various Mosaic LP purchase also picked up 25+ LPs...  a few New sealed to very rough shape (most) LPs.  I'm glad I have a Record Washer on the way, although it made it to Mesquite, TX (about 20 minutes ride from me) two and a half days ago then was sent back to Illinois for some reason according to the tracking info...odd.  Mark.

I remember wanting just a bit more with the smaller amps.

You won't be feeling that with the ZMA!

Right now, one of my desert island discs, one of the most influential discs for my personal musical world. The reason I have so many Strat and Strat-like guitars. And why I have any guitars at all.

On headphones on my portable Blu-ray player while my parents watch something. The latest Sony digipak (from Europe). Best digital version.

The next LP is LP#1 of this two record set that reissued, in 1976, The Bill Evans Trio's two studio LPs with Scott La Faro.  So this LP is actually "Portrait in Jazz" and the second is "Explorations" plus a couple extras... recorded in 1959 and 1961 respectively. Mark.

PS...there are some mighty fine sides being spun today.

Lon, Lars looks like an evil "Wall Street Banker". I'm at work so no listening until later this afternoon.

Before I went to bed I ordered a Silver Poison Cable for my Sennheiser HD800 headphones from Frank at Toxic Cables.  The Silver Widows I ordered in August are in Chicago per Tracking last night.  The Silver Poisons were some extras made for the Holidays so no waiting.  I hope they're good since I have $730 invested in the two cables...one for the Audeze LCD 2.2's and one for the HD800s. Mark.

PS...the photo is of Frank's snakes...much cooler than a pic of the cables...

Mark, Lars was an amazing Swedish musician, I love his work. He sort of has a "cool" vibe. . .played with Getz and Baker when they came to HIS turf, he writes very well and has a gentle sound and swing.

Dragon Records of Sweden have a wonderful series of nine cds releaing his work of the fifties in great sound with nice notes. I listen to these cds often when I have "chill" time.

Right now
I keep coming back to this box, Dad loves it. the sound is great, the music is quite soothing to my savage breast.

sure plays a lot of notes, must be bebop ?

ps Lon mentioned desert island discs, didn`t know you had it in US. It`s been here since steam radio. The Hendrix was a big hit with me also. When the Band of Gypsies open the set it`s an electric feeling. Must get a new copy.

At home I spun the great new Bethlehem cd from Solid Recoreds (Japan) reissuing the Jonah Jones title, one I've liked for years.

Here at my parents I started off with a favorite of mine that they have learned to like.

So my Oppo has a new feature with the latest firmware update - the You Tube app on the Oppo can now pair with my You Tube app on my laptop, or my Android Devices! The result is I can quickly and easily search for something on the laptop, click a button, and it sends that link to the Oppo YouTube app and starts playing in High Def on my 10' big screen and Decware two channel setup!

So from about 11pm last night till about 2:30am, I was playing this all night!

I discovered some great new music, and just enjoyed a quiet night with the dogs. Another fantastic leap for technology mixed with my Decware  gear!

This LP next is the third and last sealed LP from my recent record buy.  I had to turn the volume up on this one...I can tell it's going to be good...Joe Pass' Guitar is wonderful...

PS...I was right, this LP is fantastic in every way...just finishing track one on side two...

I have the cd and it's all great. Love Joe Pass' style.

Right now, the first disc of the Veght Quartet's Beethoven Quartet cycle.

This LP next.  It appears to be the 1963 mono US release.  It's not in bad shape considering it's 50 years old...better shape than me...hehe.

Lon, my copy is definitely Mono.  I checked with only left then right channels using the CSP3 voltage dials.  My album doesn't have that wording at the top of the album...at discogs there was no picture of the mono LP so that was the best I could find.  It is wonderful Stan Getz recorded in 1949 and 1950...highly recommended in any format.  Mark.

PS...here's one on ebay.  It is exactly like mine minus the "Princeton Record Exchange" price sticker on the upper left corner....mine even has RVG in the Dead.
Wax.http://www.ebay.ca/itm/STAN-GETZ-Greatest-Hits-PRESTIGE-7256-MONO-NJ-/1411084861...

PSS...This LP could stand a good cleaning.  I got my record cleaner from UPS yesterday and may do a batch tomorrow.  Lon, how many do you clean with the same water in the bath? The website had said up to 50 LPs. that seems quite high.  The solution added to the water bath is supposed to cause the dirt to sink to the bottom though.  Mark.

Good. Mono is better, always going to sound better than fake stereo! But hell you know that. I just don't buy fake stereo if I can help it.

I usually do about 20 lps at a time and toss out the water. Depends I guess on how many you want to clean in a session and how dirty they were. I haven't cleaned any lps since April and my move. . . One of these days but I have no time!

This next LP is in amazing shape...sounds great. It is a compilation of Commodore Jazz Classics released in Stereo in 1964 by the Mainstream Label.  56009 mono, S 6009 stereo - 52 Street - Holiday, Webster, & Others [1964]

Thanks Lon, I think I'll have 30 or 40 pulled to clean and just watch the water.  Mark.

PS...not only Stereo but "Spectrosonic" Stereo...hehe.  My question is why bother?  All these old recordings were originally recorded in MONO so even though it's stereo it still sounds mono...go figure.

This is track one side one...a little Lady Day from 1944.
