Thanks Lon. Going to go ahead and add the Blu-spec cds to my cart. Sounds like you are really enjoying Redbook with these new spec discs. I love the idea of better quality CDs, mainly because I have quite a few of them (not compared to you) and CD's sound so darn good on the PW combo.

I accidentally left the ZMA on today and when I got home from work threw on New Moon Daughter. Instant Smile. I have said this before but it deserves to be said again--the PW combo feeding the ZMA direct is so thoroughly enjoyable, it really is a WOW! I am sure my system could be better (replace 944's, add CSP3 etc) but it really is amazing just how it is.

Also, I know the Directstream is on it's way, but folks would be in a great place picking up the PW DAC at half price and not looking back...

I feel the same way about the PWT and PWD Mk II and my Torii Mk III. Just make wonderful music, doesn't really sound digital. The PPP helps a lot too. I really am happy, very happy, and just spinning music whenever I can. Life is good!

I am very impressed with the Blu-Spec and Blu-Spec 2 cds I've been collecting this year from Japan as well as a number of the SHM-CD releases. I don't know why these mastering processes and materials make a difference, I was very skeptical that they could, but they do.

Reply #4425 - 03/20/14 at 19:43:25 Used this cd for comparisons between JJ 6CA7 and Tung-Sol KT-66 (both quads cryo'd). Put the KT-66 back in but man I love them both. There's a forgiving softness to the attack on the KT-66 that made things just a bit more "real" though less detailed, if that's even possible.

Hi JD,

Great artists. Haven't heard Hope sing live, but Andrew and Justin along with their bands put on good shows. Andrew is an amazing musician. He was creating interesting loops in real time and had some crazy rotating horn speakers and some other fun stuff going on onstage. We saw Justin touring off Bon Iver and he had two drummers on stage (maybe not what you would expect after For Emma). The band was really tight and the sound was huge.

Thanks for the heads up on the new Bird. I do not have it and will definitely check it out. Cheers!

bought another copy of this to keep at Mom and Dad's because it's available so cheaply, and my Mom has taken to the cd which is good.

I really think they did a fantastic job with the production of this "lost" Ellington material, and some of these songs are so strong that if I had a band I'd arrange a few. This one is a hidden gem in my opinion.

Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here Remastered, various Telarc SACD Samplers, and Telarc CD-80619: JS Bach: Complete Orchestral Suites by Martin Perlman and Boston Baroque - on period instruments and tunings. Strange at first but you are hearing it "sorta" as JSB wrote it.

Taboo III / Sennheiser HD-800's / Cambridge Azur 840C digi-spinner

Burn in proceeding, the Senn's are much better mannered on the TIII than on anything else I have listened to.

Listened to the Blu-Spec 2 cd of "Kind of Blue." I don't listen to "Kind of Blue" that often, and when I do I'm often struck by its timeless cleverness and soulfulness.

It seems like the best of now while looking out towards tomorrow. "Freddie Freeloader" really hit me this time through, but the solos by all on all these tracks can still engage my attention.

Then totally shifted my attention to one by another of my jazz favorites, Jack Teagarden.

Both were mastered by different engineers in different countries and sound pretty decent yet different. Listneing to the Japanese version.
