I've been listening to Miles CDs since I got home. I'm trying to decide which Vinyl reissues to buy. I've listened to the below two so far. I'm liking "In A Silent Way" a lot more than I thought I would.

Lon, Mike, or others, anyone own the MFSL Vinyl versions of Miles Davis' pre electric albums. How do they compare to the Sony/Legacy Mono versions in Sound Quality? I'm putting together an order to be placed this weekend. I've become obsessed with vinyl. It's been all I listen to in the Listening Cave with CDs in the Den during the day. I like the audiophile reissues because they are quieter in the surface noise department. And with the 50's and 60's albums, they are much much cheaper for a listenable copy. Any help would be appreciated. Mark.

I think it's one of the finest of the Decware products. I can't help you. . . I have the MoFi SACDs of every Miles title they've reissued, but I don't buy "audiophile" vinyl. The SACDs sound wonderful, I don't doubt that the vinyl would as well.

Trying to figure out what's happening with the new Bugle Boy input tubes...sounds nice, a bit warmer and less detailed than the Amperex 7308's. The treble is toned down on this hot recording.

I'm re listening to "Milestones" with the Amperex 7308s...more detail, more extended in the highs, less warm. Just different than the BB's. On most recordings I think I'd prefer the 7308's but on really Hot recordings maybe the warmer BB's.
