Trying to sneak this in. Dad's digging it but Mom is just about to ask me to put something else on. Almost anything irritates or annoys her this week. Sigh.

I'm listening to this on spotify.  I'm trying to decide if I want the MFSL, remastered 180 gm vinyl reissue of this one.  I've already picked about 4 Coltrane reissues to purchase.  Mark.

I haven't listened to these very early Monk Blue Note tracks in a long time.  I'm listening to LP #1 of the Mosaic Box. Needless to say all the remastering tweaks in the world aren't going to make a recording made in October of 1947 as sonically good as those of Monk's Columbia output which I think are my favorites. But the music is great despite the sound. Monk's style was pretty much fully formed here.  Mark.

Revisiting Alt-J - A Perfect Wave

I kinda burnt this album out when I got the ZMA - the DirectStream with the ZMA brings it back to life again. I'm in the "hearing things I've never heard before phase".  :)

Ok, I've literally listened to this album hundreds of times since I discovered Heart as a youth in the '80s. When I got the ZMA I "discovered" all sorts of new sounds buried in the recording, especially after the ZMA broke (what I feel is) that magical 125 hour mark.

DirectStream DAC and Zen Mystery Amp - WOW! I'm hearing phase shifting in cymbals I've never heard, strings that come in way earlier than I realized and actually sound like *strings* and not a keyboard pad. And speaking of keyboards, the synths they used in this early '70s album sound amazing now - they have that gritty, low-fi analog sound that Moog and Sequential Circuits synths had back then. Add a dog bark here, bells there, a rustle of clothing or thump of an acoustic here...this is a whole new album with all this added detail! Cripes!

Donnie, I cant put a Ry album on without thinking `Donnie`.   Smiley
The guitarists guitarist.
I think my favourite Ry tracks are " Allways lift him up"
and "Trouble" ( although without checking they may be
lines from the tracks ).

I found this amazing collection of jazz at Goodwill, last week.  I have been beside myself at the selection and quality, all on vinyl. I have bought them all and now have added seventy eight new discs to my vinyl collection. I happened to go on the day that "senior citizens" (senior? Yeah, tough pill at first, but there are perks to looking old.) take half off of the price and so I got all these classic jazz albums for fifty cents per.

I cleaned them out.

I am now playing:

Good score DD!

I got a mountain of classical CDs from a GoodWill down by me. I think someone must have donated their whole CD library, and all the discs looked new!

No senior discount for me though. LOL

I am still amazed. It was the first time I had ever bought so many albums at one time that I needed a shopping cart.

Nice find Dirtdawg.

This is one of 3 new albums I got from the US via amazon. Good price and no postage or tax.

My first time hearing Bill Evans and t`ll take a few listenings to lock into the piano. Very laid back, almost seems like theres no rythym or beat.
It`s one of those 180 gm audiophile pressings on `wax time`
No issues with it. All sounds great. The sticker on the front cover says it`s newly remastered.

This is the 75 anniversary Blue Note reissue edition.

Very nice and the vibraphone was unexpected. Another first for my Decware amps. The recording is fab.

I have been using my spare time to shop lately. I found this CD collection at a local used book store:

Honestly, I paid two bucks per disc to get this 8 CD collection and it is in decent shape.
The book has been "manhandled,"  but the discs look newish. I plan to continue shopping ...

Some low-fi electronic, with female voice type music. I'm enjoying this.

Hey guys, I was thinking about starting a "Recommend to Me" thread as another route for us to seek out new music. You think that's a good idea?

This - What's Spinning thread has been invaluable, but I'm not sure I want to clutter it up with song/album/style requests.

Whattda think?

I recently bought 3 albums, Raven, not so much recommended to me personally but by comments here, likes, putting 2+2 together, and taking a plunge to expand musically and have been glad I did. Theres so much out there I/we`ll never hear other than by recommends. I think it was you that sampled sounds at Decfest on the i phone and put names to fine sounding tracks.

Palomino actually did the heavy lifting with that one.

I'm looking forward to when boating season is over...I miss my listening buddy!
