Just got this set. Bream was an excellent classical guitarist.

Enjoying a 24/96 Vinyl rip a friend is letting me try out. This is an album that I burned out a long time ago, back when I played guitar and enjoy'd Tom's guitar tone. I don't know if it's this excellent vinyl rip, or the DS rendering of it, but this sounds amazing!

Interesting. I really didn't like that one much when if first came out, may need to revisit it one of these days, it's in the shelves somehwere.

I'm not really big on tribute albums. I think one of my favorites is a recently released one of Bob Dylan 'eighties music, and one reason I like it a lot is that there's a cadre of musicians shared on a lot of the tunes giving it a homogeneity that is lacking in a lot of compilations and tribute albums. I prefer this homogeneity to the wide variances you can find from track to track on many of these.

Right now, back at my foks. Oddly, though my folks don't lke a lot of jazz for the most part any longer (they did when I was younger, that's partly where I got the love) they love Earl Hines, which makes sense as he is both traditional AND modern, through and through. Genius.

I've fallen in love with this album when I found this, the original Philips cd. The US Verve/MCA cd sounds much more congested and a bit harsh in comparison. This one sounds just wonderful, and I love the music and the arrangements. As with many of these arrangements in the past they seemed too baroque and perhaps easy listening to me, but as I have assimilated Jobim's music over the years they now seem, like Goldilock's porridge, just right.

I love the way Big John's organ and the tenor saxophone generally blend. Sure, RVG may have been in large part responsible, but it's a neat accomplishment.

@ Dave1210 ... regarding Wilco, I just picked up Being There in 88/24 hi-res from HD Tracks.  I've never heard their music to be honest and picked it up on a whim.  So far I'm liking it and "Outtasite (Outta Mind)" stood out to me thus far, but I'm going to give it a few more spins.

I've tried Wilco. Doesn't do much for me. We all like different stuff. Which is great!

Playing the Mobile Fidelity silver cd of this (I also have the US Columbia cd). Getting ready for the Mosaic Clooney set which has just shipped. My Mom is a big Clooney fan, I'm hopint to surprise her with the new set.

Disc 1 of the below 3 disc set.  

On to Disc 2…it is awesome music.  Dude has chops.  Even more amazing considering how old he was when these albums were recorded.  

It's a nicely packaged 3 disc set.  The cds appear to have the look of the original LP artwork.  The discs slide into cardboard inserts with artwork from the boxes the Master Tapes were stored in.   Pretty cool.  

The sound quality wasn't amazing on disc 1.  Disc 2 is better.  It appears this set was mastered by Seth Foster at Sterling Sound, NYC.

I didn't own any of this music prior to purchase of this 3 disc set, so it seemed like a good grab for me.  I think the only other Clifford Brown disc I own is Clifford Brown & Max Roach.

They said their uncle was Max Bygraves, so the music business was up and running.

Or am I kidding myself? Still it was in N/East London. I`m sticking to it !

My dozen or so jazz albums are getting plenty of playing time on the TT. Getting more aquainted all the time.
