You are welcome Dave,  I have that  O.P. CD box set and have been picking up a lot of Oscar Peterson Vinyl since I bought the ZP3 and new Rega TT.  I listened to "Very Tall" with his trio and Milt Jackson earlier today.  Currently I'm watching a Hitchcock film on TCM.  Mark.

I'm back in the Listening Cave on this rainy day in Texas.  My first LP is #1 of this 2 LP 1977 reissue of recordings originally released in 1956.  Wonderful...

Marky,  I've been following it. When the auction was begun, I emailed the seller because some of the info didn't make sense...he corrected his errors.  I have ordered the Analogue Productions Complete Bill Evans Riverside albums  on two 45 rpm LPs per album  (22 LPs, about $600).  I have the CD Box version, actually two of them, and am not sure I need the the standard LP version too.  We'll soon see how much people think it's worth.  Of course, the music itself is priceless.  Mark.

Marky,  on the LP "Coltrane Sounds"...I recently listened to the CD box of all of Coltrane's Atlantic recordings...very nice.  I've already purchased "Coltrane Jazz" on vinyl and plan on picking up the other Atlantic albums on vinyl.  What'd you pay and what grade and version did you get?  Mark.

"Reissue copy of Coltrane's Sound on Atlantic originally issued in 1964.
Beautiful album with Central Park West and Equinox being particular favourites.
This copy is in as new condition and a really nice sounding pressing on nice thick vinyl."
For £7.50 + £ 4.00 postage.

I was looking at a US auction for the Evan's Box.  I couldn't help myself and bid $207 but before my bid was taken it shot up from 180 to 255 final price...which I think is a good price.

The "Coltrane Jazz" that I bought is an original Mono version.  I was surprised to get it for $13.50 and was even more surprised that it's condition was fantastic...VG++.  All too often ebay sellers grossly over grade which is why I won't bid more than $15 for used vinyl on ebay.  I obviously will pay up for new audiophile vinyl though.  You can find out exactly what version your vinyl is at discogs.com, which I consult constantly.  Mark.

I found it on discogs. Theres also an Atlantic/Rhino press 180gm, so it could be that one. ( the e-bay photo wouldn`t work...it said `java script` inside the brackets and wouldn`t load. )

Actually I tried to bid on Coltranes Ascension but for some reason it wouldn`t let me, kept getting stuck. So I bought this instead while I looking round.

As for the Bill lp`s 18x £12? Bet it goes for more.... Smiley

I hate saying this, but it's true again - listening to this album for the first time since getting the DirectStream, and I'm also running on a completely revamped Media PC that's running MS Server 2012 with Audiophile Optimizer set to Core Mode; yes, it sounds completely new, like it's been remastered - and this is an album I've played to death for 15+ years now.

I'm really enjoying the DirectStream. Coming from the excellent PWT/PWD Mk II combo I can't say anything sounds as if it's remastered or as if I'm hearing it anew. BUT there is an ease and depth to the presentation that is new and welcome.

Right now disc 6
F'ing amazing music that I never thougth I would enjoy as I now do.

I'm home sick from work, trying to burn off a nasty cold. So I'm just sitting in my listening chair spinning tunes.

Went to the recent Remaster of This in 24/192

Now playing this (for me) classic. They were just staying at my hotel in Peoria this weekend, but I didn't bother them or run into them at all.

My favorite Ornette Coleman album. I'm listening to the 24 bit cd from Warner Japan. These Warner remasters just sound phenomenal on the DirectStream. Very vivid and solid sounding.

Been in the Cave a while.  I've already spun the Record Store Day 180 gm Mono of "Miles Ahead" and the 200 gm Analogue Productions reissue of Miles' "Steamin'".

Now this amazing Art Pepper LP.  It may be a little harder to find since it was only issued in Japan on the JVC label but the music can also be found in the 16 CD Complete Galaxy recordings box.  Mark.

This LP is from the same Japanese concerts in the summer of 1979, as the previous LP.  It is more easily obtained and was released in 1980 on the Galaxy Label.  Mark.

Normal weight reissue on Atlantic.
First play so getting the general gist of it. This jazz stuff has all the players doing scales so you get sidetracked quite a bit. What makes it good I suppose.
First 3 tracks it`s like they`ve told the bass player to go right over there and play Smiley  He`s almost on my left shoulder but  15 yds away. Reassuring that the sound system doesn`t always stay in the normal format and can reach beyond usual boundaries.

Next LP.  This appears to be a 1963 reissue of this 1959 release...

One of the early solo piano discs, followed by one of the piano concerto discs.  Beethoven rules.

This is a strange album. But today it sounds really really good. The latest cd from Japan is Blu-Spec and I really like the sound.

Better you than me. If I never heard that lp again I'd be a happy man. That was one of the ones that was ruined by being played over and over everywhere I went or turned on a radio when it was "new and hot." I didn't like it much to begin with, now you can get me out of a room by putting it on!

Right now, Dad requested as the last cds to spin for the night:
